Somehow I think the banksters have some other motive. I suspect they don't want to see the money hose to their offshore accounts dry-up. I wouldn't trust any advise from the same crooks who crashed the economy and sucked in tax payer bailout money to feed their appetite.

Look for other alternative advise just not from these banksters.

If in the last twelve years we haven't learned to never lessen to a bankster on any subject of finance, this is the umpteenth reminder ....... never, never, never ever, lessen to what a bankster has to say, never!!

Nope. You live in Republican World where reality doesn't exist, only ideology.

Well let's see, first we were told the sequester was going to ruin us, and it didn't. We have been thru Gubment shut downs many times in the past and again it was not the end of the world either. So with such precedents one would have to assume that the current sky is falling story is just another democrat lie meant to put fear into the hearts of those who still believe these liars.

how stupid can anyone be....maybe it's time for a reality check...think this will not affect you? when the teabaggers DO crash this countrys finances, your intrest on your loans go up, your food prices goes up, your gas goes up, and your money becomes almost worthless as intrest rates climb....to think this is just a game and nothing will hapen, is a very stupid gamble, and to just poo poo this as another "Shutdown" shows an irresponsible attatude....but of course, teabaggers never believe anything that has actual facts or ignores all the warning signs....
This will destroy any chnce of the teabagger party of ever winning any elections for decades to come...hope you enjoy being a poor minorty for a long time..

On one hand you have the Tea Party saying this is no big thing but on the other hand they claim it is big enough that they will get their way. Now we have bankers saying it isn't safe not to pay the little people. Did I miss the part where Rod Serling
introduced this week?

The banks and wall street need to kick GOP butt. If they want to let the Koch brothers run their party, the big money needs to go elsewhere.
05:05 PM on 10/08/2013
I doubt it will come down to this. If congress goes over the cliff Obama will use executive power to prevent a true default although that won't fool the markets who will still know the House is a ship of fools!

Actually, I happen to agree with you. The Treasury will break some law anyway. The law they will rely on is the Constitutional requirement that the Federal government pay it's bills the 14 Amendment I believe. Adults are going to prevail on this one at some point.

don't count on it.

spending bills originate in the US House, by Constitutional requirement.

If the US House does not forward a spending resolution, spending stops at some point.

I am one of 230,000 Americans who's social security was wrongfully withheld for more than two years on some ignorant belief by congress it could do so. In September, 2009, a federAl court in Oakland, CA. rulled it was unlawful and all funds were ordered restored.

For those of you who don't know, social security is a trust fund. The federal government regularly borrows from the fund but must pay it back. Part of our nation's debt is owed to social security.

Let me therefore disabuse you of further self abuse. This trust is for the people, not the government, period. The government can and has set guidelines on how those funds are dispersed, BUT HAS ZERO RIGHT TO SPEND THOSE FUNDS FOR ANY THING OTHER THAN ITS BENEFICIARIES.

Right. For decades, the government stole the social security money as it came in and left IOU's. This paid for things like tax cuts for the rich. Now that the boomers are retiring and the cupboard is bare, it's time to raise taxes to repay the trust fund. But the 1% have got their trained media seals barking that we're greedy geezers and that entitlements have to be cut.

Damn right I'm entitled. I paid double SS taxes since Reagan and O'Neill made their deal in the 80's. Now I'm old and I want what I'm entitled to. And boo, hoo, hoo if the rich's taxes go up.

The interest wouldn't go to the consumers, who wouldn't spend, and then banks wouldn't be able to charge usurious rates of 18-30% to consumers while borrowing interest free from the government.

But isn't that an arguement for supporting the working class in general?  And I haven't seen any of that sentiment from the banksters before.
04:34 PM on 10/08/2013
exactly! They are borrowing almost interest free and charging consumers a ton.
04:23 PM on 10/08/2013
First SS check I miss I am going to go down and file bankruptcy. How many people can the banks afford to let that happen with? And without people spending, how many jobs will be lost and how many others will file for bankruptcy?
04:38 PM on 10/08/2013
That is what they fear. People will file for bankruptcy. If this continue for 800,000 workers, many will file. 800,000 workers, and average salary a payday 1,500 = 1,200,000,000 is missing from the economy. Someone is losing money.
05:10 PM on 10/08/2013
Evidently rubepublicans have that figured out since they have been working tirelessly to make sure consumers have less to spend in a consumer based economy. Looks like share cropping/indentured servitude is their plan! Until the 1% own 99% of everything their plutocratic owners will not let them stop!
