Why doesn't she just sue Rielle Hunter under the Alienation of Affections Law. Its perfectly legal in North Carolina. Fantasia Barrino is learning the hard way about this law. If you are going to steal a person's husband or wife, make sure you don't do it in Hawaii, Illinois, Mississippi, New Mexico, North Carolina, South Dakota and Utah.

If lawsuits really can provide any remedy in a situation like Elizabeth's, then yes. Her illness is very, very tragic. That said, we are beginning to find out that neither Elizabeth nor John were anything close to what they put themselves forward to be. And she has been complicit in all of this.

If lawsuits can provide any remedy in a situation like this, perhaps it is us, the public, who should sue Elizabeth and John, for fraud, breach of trust ... or hey, a twist on the corporate favorite, breach of PUBLIC contract. No?

In expecting that the man she had married and had spent most of her adult life with to be faithful and denying it because it may have been too much to face, she was complicit? Since when is it the publics' right to judge a persons' feelings and intentions just because they are in the public eye?

how do you know she stole him? ... their marriage may have been over long before she was even diagnosed and they start together for appearance... who knows.

Well that's up to a judge to decide. Its perfectly legal in those states to sue for that reason. I wouldn't do it myself but if she wants to do that's her business.

Oh please, this is a private affair! We have other problems which need our attention. It is not like there is no married man out there that did not do same. And, on the other side, there are plenty women out there, that do same. Who cares.

Yup. When this was a Christian country, people used to say, "Leave her to Heaven." Now we say, "Leave her to US Magazine."
11:31 AM on 02/11/2010
All these people can do whatever they want. I wish they'd stop consuming the preciously short national attention span while they do it. I'm sorry for all of them, slaves to their demons. I hope they all find happiness. And I hope they leave the rest of us out of their sordid little drama. Most of us have enough problems of our own.

Elizabeth is right and trying to shut down people who are making money from her tragedy. Go for it...sue the pants off Andrew Young....
11:30 AM on 02/11/2010
for $$$? ... Young has a right to his opinion and book, but if it's all false and she can prove it and that's what she wants to do for the rest of her days here on earth, it's her choice, but seems like a waste of time.
11:35 AM on 02/11/2010
She is trying to stop the man from making money from her tragedy...she wants the $$$ to go to charity. There is a difference between opinion and being a big grub for profit. I suspect John Edwards will write a book and she will not be privy to the proceeds. I wish her well.
12:02 PM on 02/11/2010
I disagree. It's because it is all TRUE that Elizabeth has a case! Sue Young from here to the bank!
11:34 AM on 02/11/2010
No, Elizabeth is embarrassing herself with her displaced anger.

"The election chronicle "Game Change" revealed Elizabeth confronting her husband on an airport tarmac, ripping open her blouse to expose herself and screaming, "Look at me!" over and over until she collapsed in anguish.

I'm sorry for her pain but going to court to try and rectify the hurt suffered because your husband is a world-class cad is pitiful. Such nonsense will do more to keep your shame in the public eye than anything else.
11:20 AM on 02/11/2010
If true, Elizabeth is not moving forward in her life in a constructive way. She has two people to blame for John Edwards' infidelity... John and Rielle. Throwing blame at the feet of anybody else is BS. Her husband is a "monster" as she feared. He and Rielle are the only ones to be blamed. They deserve each other. They are both very troubled, and very manipulative, destructive people. If I were Elizabeth, I'd want the sex tape Rielle left lying around shown for all the world to see. You reap what you sow and John and Reille would only further their digging themselves into a ditch of laughing stocks. if Elizabeth continues to digress and look to the past, she'll never heal properly, physically or psychologically. Despite all, she's the one sitting pretty and the one that folks sympathize with. The fact that Edwards fell for Rielle is downright scary!

Andrew Young is trying to make a name for himself doing the news circuit ...benefiting from her tragedy. This is her way to shut down his grubbiness. She wants the funds to go to charity.

John Edwards presented the coverup of his affair to Young as a way to protect Elzabeth from hurt. The fact that Young complied, and even told the press that the love child was his, when he had his own wife and children, has made him virtually unemployable.

Read the comments Elizabeth made about Young when he first tried to protect the Edwards family. She raged then, and she is raging now. She wanted to sue the National Enquirer earlier. She can't handle the truth, and this kind of inner rage will kill a sick person as surely as any disease.

No one is acquiting themselves well in this mess, least of all Elizabeth. It's badly done all the way around.

I can empathize with how humiliated, betrayed and angry Elizabeth Edwards must feel. But what I can't understand is why a woman who has so few days left of this beautiful life is willing to spend it in lawsuits. Yes, Mrs. Edwards you have been used very badly, but let those jerks go their way and enjoy the life you have while you have it. Revenge may be possible, but is it really worth it?

you sure are writing her off easily.
Edwards was informed that her cancer may be treatable with anti-estrogen drugs. "I consider that a good sign. It means there are more medications which I can expect to be responsive"

Beating the Conundrum

We are all living our "last days."
We should make the very best of each of them because the brick wall we will surely hit in the end, is invisible for most of us.

That's good to hear. I apologize if I came off sounding that way, I can see why you would get that message and that is not my intent. My bad. Still, those who have surrounded her have acted so poorly , that I personally would just want them out of my life. She obviously feels differently.
11:27 AM on 02/11/2010
I use to like her, but now with all this coming out, not so much, the cover up was for power and $$ and it leaves a very bad taste in your mouth, and I am sure there is more to both sides of the story that happened between the 3 of them we will never hear about... I agree with you, she just needs to drop it and live her life in peace and let go of the past.
12:13 PM on 02/11/2010
I don't think that there is more to be said about Elizabeth. I think that everything that could be said about Elizabeth has been said... And, it's not much given the circumstances. I hope Elizabeth lives 10 more years and enjoys every minute. I don't think that curling up and letting people say whatever they want leads to peace.

Andrew Young should never have done what he did, he should put a sock in it, but he is a bit player and this is displaced anger. Sue your husband. Sue yourself. Let it go and try to be happy with your children.
11:18 AM on 02/11/2010
Young said: "I am fighting for this. They've called me and my family liars and we're going to fight to the very end. ... That's not true."

Pardon me while I roll on the floor laughing . . .

Young did nothing but lie for years but he's not a liar? Buy a dictionary - people who lie are liars. Yesterday in court Young was even called out for previous lies under oath. So he is a liar and a perjurer.

Now, what part of the Florida panhandle are these folks from? They just can't shut up. Sounds like they're looking for a spot on Nancy Grace. They certainly seem to be trying to rid themselves of any bit of "class" them may (or may not) have ever had. Yuck.

And just think they were willing to sacrifice it all and take this classless act all the way to the WH. You can't help wonder if Edwards had become POTUS and all this broke out afterwards how everybody related would be acting. With Edwards in the highest position in the country, would power and position cause Elizabeth to act differently? It's still hard to believe that all this drama was known and unfolding and she and John still decided to try to sweep it all under the rug and continue the run for the presidency. I shudder to think that even worse, Edwards could have won the nomination and lost the election by the scandal of adultery. Thus giving us "Fundamentally Sound McCain" and "You Betcha By Golly Wow" Palin to lead us further down the rabbit hole. All I can say is thank you National Enquirer. What you meant for scandal and tabloid sensationalism, in turn, saved us from a fate I don’t even want to consider.
