Hopefully the harpoon Issa wants to launch at Geithner and Goldman Sachs will also spear several busloads of Gomer's buds. Surely there is room on the spear for Paulson.
09:17 AM on 02/19/2010
To someone like Issa, he's only interested in going after those appointed after 1/09. Paulson would walk free, and anyone doing bad during Bush/Cheney's time would not be investigated. He's that kind of a partisan!
09:08 AM on 02/19/2010
Issa is not to be taken seriously. He's had his own scandals to deal with, but the Rethugs in north San Diego County continue to vote for him. He's a phony populist. He's all about corporate profits over the health and welfare of the working class.

You keep making suggestions about Mr. Issa...please be more specific. I have watched him during many hearings and he appears to be very knowledgable and tough. My only complaint is that he is a Republican. What is your beef with him.?

This is the same guy that said that the Obama White House should preserve all emails while never saying anything about how the Bush White House "lost" thousands of emails. Hypocrisy! That's what all this is about.

Right away sir.
Just after the transcripts from Cheney's energy commission; the Iraq WMD report; the Enron and Haliburton files; Torture success summary (that may take a while); and justification for outing CIA operatives.

Still waiting....
08:51 AM on 02/19/2010
So it's up to Issa to gather all the documents on the cases you listed? Are Holder and the rest of the Obama DOJ on an extended vacation?

Number of Holder DOJ prosecutions for torture, phony intel, Plame, Cheney energy commission: 0

That is one of the two things that are disappointing about this Admin.to me. The other is Wall Street regulation (although that I blame mostly on Congress)

Hopefully both will change. (fingers crossed)
09:09 AM on 02/19/2010
He'd object to that. He's a hypocrite.

This lib hates to agree, but has to.

No, not if this Rethug's behind it.

Rep Issa I would consider driving for the near term and what ever you do, DONOT, get in a small plane.
09:10 AM on 02/19/2010
I would think that's a threat he'd make to others. He's a shady character. Something about phony insurance claims a long time ago.

Bernanke will not freely allow full disclosure. If he did he would be cashiered on the spot for giving away our nation's wealth and future to banking CEO criminals. Rewarding while covering up financial criminal actions is a most significant decision of the Obama Bunch. That is the source of his Administration's decline.
We must get to the bottom of this chicanery, bribery and favoritism that is costing us so dearly. And the guilty must be placed in the halls of justice to determine their guilt and punishment. Then the healing may begin. The attention to financial interests, including Wall Street, equity and sovereign funds, derivatives and banking wages and the inattention to our public and private enterprises and jobs that provide the basic necessities of life is destroying our future.

Who said all republicans were bad news. Lets start putting some people in jail, might start with Bernanke and Geithner, hell lets add Summers and Paulson for good measure.

They claim they do not have to turn anything over until 2018. Obviously someone will go to jail if these docs are made public, and no doubt someone high on the food chain.

"They claim they do not have to turn anything over until 2018. Obviously someone will go to jail if these docs are made public, and no doubt someone high on the food chain. ..."

The information the SEC had agreed to keep confidential until 2018 has already been released in its entirety.

Nobody was incriminated. Nobody is going to go jail because of the release of the information.

It was a list of CDOs that added up to 62 billion par - we already knew that. It showed that the marks had taken those CDOs to roughly 27 billion - we already knew that.

It added up to a great big pile of zilch.

AIG and rest of Wall St should have been in jail waaaaay before Obama took office.
08:48 AM on 02/19/2010
But Obama hasn't jailed anyone from Wall St. either.

Are you now rescinding your demand that these people be jailed, because the tenant of the White House has changed?

Is there some statute of limitation preventing the Obama DOJ from pressing charges on crimes that occurred pre 1/09?

This is so pathetic. Rep. Darrell Issa your party ran the country for 6 of those 8 years and now just now you want all documents turned over please.

Where were you when AIG's BS was happening??
07:29 AM on 02/19/2010
Agreed. I trust this guy as far as my grandma can throw him. And she's dead. This is the same guy that said that the Obama White House should preserve all emails while never saying anything about how the Bush White House "lost" thousands of emails. Hypocrisy! That's what the Republicans are at best at.
08:40 AM on 02/19/2010
Where was Issa when AIG's BS was happening? He was trying to keep his head above the effluent in the cesspool of congress. Meanwhile Taxless Timmy & Bernanke were ripping off all of US on behalf of their real bosses ... the cartel of banks that literally own the FED. In case you missed it, this was done in SECRET, so asking where Isaa was completely misses the point.
So where are YOU now that Issa is trying to reveal the facts? You are mired in mindless partisanship, a willing sucker in the shell game hosted by the oligarchy that is the real US government.
