I know it burns you Michael, that Barry Obama is the first black man in your White House. You wanted to be first, but it will never happen.

Steele sure is a piece of work. The Republican party token black man. I wonder why the party selected him over Blackwell (the other token possiblity). I'm going to take a guess at this answer - Blackwell is an a** but he is a pretty smart one, the whities would have a bit more trouble using him as their puppet

[When the number crunchers aren't so kind, it's deemed fantasy.]

And yet, when have examples from this very debate of the Democrats getting worse than expected results from the CBO and making tweaks to their bills...

[Steele, at the very least, should know this.]

Of course he knows this, but like he said, "I'm lying" (two words?)

Yes thats right, Bush would never lie about "numbers" to get what he wanted. He just lied about WMDs to get what he wanted, which resulted in not only the death of over 4000 of America's troops, but hundreds of thousands of innocent woman and children in Iraq. Ya thats right Obama's the corrupt President!!!

The Republicans and their Fox cohorts always spout the CBO as the utmost in the end analysis of costs - well, unless it goes against their thinking and then they try to sell them down the river. No wonder the heads of their followers twirl like the Linda Blairs' in the exorcist movie.

A modest proposal...

CBO: "The bill will save $1.2 trillion in the out-years following the first decade after implementation."

Michael Steele: "YOU LIE!"

These tools have nothing left in the intellectual ammo clip. And add this hefty bit of mileage to the hypocrisy odometer: The Bush WH and GOP Congress didn't even bother to submit Medicare Part D (prescription drugs benefit) for CBO scoring. As with the war in Iraq, they simply shoved it on to the deficit. Where's my dramamine? These guys make me want to hurl.

They knew that it would balloon the deficit by a huge amount (which it has), but didn't care. They preferred to give away money to their favorite companies instead.
08:50 AM on 03/19/2010
Wow, it really is their strategy to simply create a verbal alternative reality and hope people fall for it--amazing. Even more amazing is that there are pinheady types who latch on--part of the big government conspiracy to...to...uh...

I actually feel sorry for Steele, he has become such a GOP pawn and it will inpact his future political career. He better hope President Obama gets a second term, otherwise the GOP really doesn't need a black RNC chair to offset a President of color.

Do these repubs not see that they are slowly destroying this country to obtain short term political gains by calling into question the impartiality of various institutions?
The courts made a ruling we don't like...the courts are biased.
The Senate parliamentarian (that we chose!!) ruled against us...he's biased.
The CBO made a cost analysis that we don't like...the CBO is biased.

These guys are practically advocating for anarchy.
09:26 AM on 03/19/2010
Re "anarchy?" You're partially right. Add Fascism. They would like nothing but brown shirts and hobnailed boots marching down K-Street to the tune of German marching music from WW2. There they could march to the White House and give their hand salutes as they chanted "Hail Victory." We all know the German words to that chant.

What the repubs really want is martial law and World control just like the man the Bush family has always worshipped
08:48 AM on 03/19/2010
Republicans didn't have a problem with the CBO scores in 2001 (Bush tax cuts: raise deficit 1.3 TRILLION) or in 2003 (Medicare Part D: raise deficit 394 Billion, Bush tax cuts: raise deficit 349 Billion). Oh but now when the CBO scores the health care bill to REDUCE deficit by 138 Billion, the bill "costs too much"
09:27 AM on 03/19/2010
The CBO has a history of being an honorable institution. The Rethugs are wrongfully defaming it.
