GOP says DEMS using threats for political gain. We all know GOP has done this too. (Can we all say WMD in Iraq?)

The difference is the threats to the DEMS are real, coming from actual scary people and threaten another actual person. The threats the GOP used were made-up fear tactics that in reality actually put no one in any danger here at home, you know like "grandma killing death panals".

The GOP phony threats have led to these real ones. I expect the GOP will find a way to blame this all on Bill Clinton before the week is out.

But isn't Cantor et al. acknowledging that the use of anti-threatening, and anti-threat inciting, language, by the public and by the Democrats, as a political "weapon" the same as acknowledging that
the use by Republicans and their queer brethren of bagging fame of threatening, and threat inciting language, and weapon brandishing as political weapons is, in fact, using political "weapons."

If being anti violence and incitement is a political weapon (a position the RepoTaliban should be make to defend) then surely the threats of violence, the language of violence, and actual murders that have happened, is a political weapon. One that the Republicans have used thousands upon thousands of times just in the last two years.

Cantor condemns himself and his party, and particulary its blood thirsy rabble, with the guilt of the far greater sin.

Cantor claimed that someone shot through his office window............turns out to be a big fat lie.

What happened?

The "news media were only;y too happy to CONSTANTLY replay his statement and then have all of there pundits discuss the "state of affairs"....repeating this lie ALL DAY LONG!

Not ONCE did they verify with the police department.........NOT ONCE!

When the police report was reported ..........ON THE BLOGS .......THEN they were forced to report that it wasn't true........BUT.........they CONTINUED to play the footage of his statement.

All along the REAL story is that Cantor told an outrageous LIE to score political points.

Dem offices ARE having bricks thrown through them with threats attached to the bricks, so Cantor had to "one up" them and created a lie about a gunshot and say that it is because he is a Jew.

THAT is incitement and the media are helping it along.

GOP...your half baked apologies are UNACCEPTED and your vile behavior is UNACCEPTABLE...

The GOP has been egging these hate-mongering screaming lunatics on for a year... now that it has finally erupted in violence they want to give a half an apology and say let's forget it...

No.no.no. If they want this to go away they will take responsibilty for their willing participation, and SHARED culpability in all of this ugliness. They are co-conspirators and collaborators and their freaking chickens haven't even BEGUN to come home to roost. God help them if one of the nutbags they've egged on carriesout some heinous act... they are absolutely to blame!

Republicans don't want Democrats to use this as a political weapon.

Because... Republicans would NEVER use situations like this for political gain, right?

*cough* 9/11 *cough*

unbelievable...

Not just that but the violence that the Repugs incite is the spineless Democrats fault.
The anger that they demand is the passive Democrats fault.
The bloody revolution that the RepoTaliban lust for and the arms that the sell are the all the fault of the majority of the American voters.

Yup, the GOP, America's sweet hearts. Hug a gun totting Tea Bagger today for your warm fuzzy, feel good moment. Just please, don't knock the safety off.

What a joke! The Repubs have spent the last year trying to make everyone VERY AFRAID of the President, the Democrats agenda, the healthcare reform bill etc. Now, after achieving that goal, they are surprised that people are afraid. The gang that is responding so wildly has a core of racism. Obama can do no good. Otherwise why would they be demanding "their America" back. Just what America is that? The all white one? The Repubs knew what they were doing all along, they just didn't figure that the bill might pass. Now they have to deal with the fallout from that, the angry mob they incited, and the bad press that is generating. Can't put that toothpaste back into that tube. So, true to form, what do they do, they blame the Democrats! The Dems should raise some money off the violence the Repubs fostered. Didn't they raise money from the "you lie" comment? Aren't they trying to raise money from the "baby killer" comment? Yes and yes.

I'd love to see the video of Republicans egging on demonstrators as they were spitting at Democrats or yelling out racist and anti-gay comments. And the video should name names. Has anyone seen the video?

The craziness we're seeing is a direct result of eight years of the GOP manipulating and lying to the public, all the while using negative tactics to frighten and enrage. Then you have your Becks, O'Reillys, Coulters, Limbaughs, et al, who I am absolutely convinced are in part responsible for the hateful climate in this country.

And this man has the audacity to blame Democrats. Unbelievable.

Or is it?

More than 8 years.

Gingritch penned a memo in 1996, detailing a systematic plan to undermine and dehumanize Liberals, Democrats and their agendas, pundits and supporters, and cast them as enemies.

http://www.informationclearinghouse.info/article4443.htm

This has been a carefully constructed plan...very similar to Joe G's plan for the J e w s.....

Double standard?

Is there a double standard? Seems to be.

Every threat to Obama is now vigorously pursued, trumpeted and dissected by the media and the blogs, and roundly condemned. And I condemn such threats as well.

But in the past, whenever someone threatened Bush at a protest, there was a deafening silence on the part of the media and the left-leaning blogs, and consequently very little (if any) follow-through on the part of the Secret Service. Which I find quite distressing. I was condemning those threats in the past (as best I could, by drawing attention to them on my blog) — but few people were joining me in my condemnation.

I am NOT (repeat: NOT) defending anyone who threatens a president’s life. That’s the whole point. I say that anone who threatens Obama should be arrested and/or investigated. All I am saying is that threats to Bush should have been similarly pursued — but weren’t.

And the only reason I’m publishing the essay is that many Obama supporters — to my astonishment — now claim that Bush was never threatened at protests. Before we can have a rational discussion on this topic, we need to have a shared factual basis. The evidence below will establish that basis.
09:53 AM on 03/26/2010
American citizens were arrested for wearing Kerry shirts and buttons if they managed to get near Bush's rallies. There weren't any guns in the crowds either, so I wouldn't go there if I were you.

Most likely every president gets a certain amount of threats sent their way. But are you actually suggesting that threats against Bush didn't get investigated? That's absolutely laughable that the CIA, FBI, and the secret service just looked away with all those hypocritical libbies and pretended it never happened. Nice try.

And no, I never heard any democratic elected officials using gun references and imagery to suggest taking back the country from the hands of f@scists that want to push us straight into armageddon. Did you?

I never heard Air America talking head say "We have to wipe them out" as Limbaugh said of Democrats earlier this week......

Never heard Olbermann go off ona non factual inaccurate rant about how the Bush administration was coming for your guns with their Maoist shock troops.....

Never heard a news organization promote, and subsidize anti-governmental rallies.

Never saw Democrats appear at these rallies calling out "Take our country back".....

None of these happened during the Bush administration, the fringe Left was treated as the lunatic fringe often is, not embraced and conflated to be 'A majority of Americans"......

Straight out of Lou Dobbs play book, the unoriginal Cantor LIES:

Richmond Police Detail Shooting Of Cantor’s Office
The Richmond cops send over a statement:

The Richmond Police Department is investigating an act of vandalism at the Reagan Building, 25 E. Main St., Richmond, Virginia. A first floor window was struck by a bullet at approximately 1 a.m. on Tuesday, March 23. The building, which has several tenants including an office used by Congressman Eric Cantor, was unoccupied at the time.

A Richmond Police detective was assigned to the case. A preliminary investigation shows that a bullet was fired into the air and struck the window in a downward direction, landing on the floor about a foot from the window. The round struck with enough force to break the windowpane but did not penetrate the window blinds. There was no other damage to the room, which is used occasionally for meetings by the congressman.

The Richmond Police Department is sharing information about the incident with appropriate law enforcement agencies.

At this time there are no suspects

PAY ATTENTION FOLKS...............THE SHOT WAS FIRED FROM...INSIDE THE ROOM.

A preliminary investigation shows that a bullet was fired into the air and struck the window in a downward direction,............ landing on the floor about a foot from the window.

It landed on the floor without penetrating the window blinds .........so it HAD to be.......... INSIDE the room !!!!!!

This was staged!

The round struck with enough force to break the windowpane but did not penetrate the window blinds. There was no other damage to the room, which is used occasionally for meetings by the congressman.

I think you are going on the wrong track on this one. A good forensic person would be able to tell which side of the window the bullet was fired from. Also, the bullet would be lost a good deal of momentum from the distance travelled and the impact with the glass.

Not to mention that blinds are light and pliable, so they probably MOVED rather that ripped.

Cantor is still a lying sack, but they would be able to figure this one out.

Even if I'm wrong....the police report directly refutes the claims in the media that Cantor's office was "shot up" and that he was "attacked." This story is important and needs wider circulation!

"What has been really striking has been the eliminationist rhetoric of the G.O.P., coming not from some radical fringe but from the party’s leaders. John Boehner, the House minority leader, declared that the passage of health reform was “Armageddon.” The Republican National Committee put out a fund-raising appeal that included a picture of Nancy Pelosi, the speaker of the House, surrounded by flames, while the committee’s chairman declared that it was time to put Ms. Pelosi on “the firing line.” And Sarah Palin put out a map literally putting Democratic lawmakers in the cross hairs of a rifle sight."
