Well I don't believe that for one second ! Both Cheney and Rove knew they could use Bush as a puppet and do whatever they wanted to do behind the scenes. Everything was hunkdory until Rove and Cheney fell out over the Plame affair. Now they're both going to point fingers at each other, saying it was the other guy that screwed things up.

Rove said " cheney was too much of a patriot to refuse the VP position"
I think rove wanted cheney. Also they all should be in orange jump suits now!
02:39 PM on 03/26/2010
Cheney looked around at all the possible candidates for VP and said "Why not me?"

"Yes indeed, Why not me?"
01:23 PM on 03/26/2010
More Rove speaks more lies in the air. More lies don't help this society, may CNN and MSM realize that.

He is worst part of a disgraced administration.
02:40 PM on 03/26/2010
I don't know about that.

Cheney, Rumsfeld, Ashcroft.

The ManChild himself.

Rove has some serious competition.

Not that you couldn't be correct.

Whatever Karl says, the truth lies somewhere around the opposite.

Of course, those two did have something in common in that they were both Enron shareholders along with 52 other members of the Bush Administration. Thats one of those tweaky little historical things that karl never has to answer for these days.

Cheney gave new meaning to the word "patriot" by getting FIVE DEFERMENTS to stay out of the service during the Vietnam war. His justification? He had "other priorities." And his boss managed to do the same by jumping to the head of the waiting list to get into the Texas Air National Guard. These are two shining examples of patriotism that the Republican party offered us in 2000-2004. (Disclosure: I never think of myself as a "patriot" even though I served in the Army. Always look with suspicion at people who advertise themselves as patriots.)

I'm inclined to think that patriots are the type of people who commit "Patriot Acts."

Nothing patriotic about that in my way of looking at things.

Cheney ran several administrations, as the shadow president. I wish America would be rid of him.

He was the most damaging VP in US history. He certainly ran the first 4 years until Bush started to feel more comfortable as POTUS.
12:56 PM on 03/26/2010
"Cheney, himself, seemed reluctant to take the position, according to Rove's book"

Yeah right.

Cheney was so reluctant, as head of the Republican committee to recommend VP candidates, he concluded that he himself was the best candidate for the job.

That doesn't sound like a reluctant candidate to me.

Oh snap, someone who remembers the facts. Lulz.

since when does "patriot" mean "halliburton shareholder"?

patriots don't lie to soldiers about why they were sent to their deaths.

Cheney/Rove 2012 cannot distinguish between the two.

I just want to ask Mr. Rove what happened to the listening device he supposedly found hidden at Bill Clements campaign headquarters in 1986?

Selecting Cheney as VP demonstrated early on George Bush's infinite wisdom as "The Decider".

If Rove didn't want Cheney, it was purely strategic. Rove has said he has no strong agenda, other than winning. Look at the way he used "gay marriage" as a wedge issue, despite the Bush, Cheney, and Rove having no strong objections to gay rights issues.
