$13,550 is chump change. McConnell received a gift of "up to $25 million dollars" from his father in law who is a Taiwanese shipping magnate who is in bed financially with the Chinese. What I want to know is how "helpful" Mitchy was enacting legislation that helped the his father-in-law and the Chinese amass wealth. Also, McConnell owns a nice house in the family enclave in Taiwan. He conveniently waited until he was reelected in 2008 to declare the income.

From what I have read Massey mines are not union. Maybe they should be.

Almost none of the mining deaths in recent years have been at union mines - almost all of them have been at non-union mines like Massey's. Source is PBS Newshour.

So when was the last time that union workers have striked over safety conditions and not just over money?

Would that union-enforced safety standards preclude this. It seems in being cited repeatedly for violations that Massey's no 'friend' of the Worker.
Do you have Google?
You might try to research that which you've asked.

what bugs me the most about these congressman that take money usually from big Corporations is that at some point Mitchie is going to cut their taxes(Tyco) or vote a resolution that benefits that Corp. ..We all know that it was the public that voted him in office and we get the shaft.

Oh yeah—I can see that happening! Mitch McConnell finally grows a conscience and does something ethical.
Good thing I wasn't drinking coffee at the time.

Mitch, Boehner and Cantor want safety standards for the mining industry relaxed. He thinks strict standards kill jobs....
