The key is that she's always had a sense of humor about herself. In her younger days, she apparently posed topless for a picture on a deck of cards. Never allowed herself to be bothered about it. She's kept working and unlike Cloris Leachman who has been rather one dimensional over the years, Betty has managed to play dear but dim, cranky and feisty, and in general ACT.

It's Betty White. White. Why are you putting so much emphasis on the "H"? Say Cool Whip... Cool Whip...

This was one of the funniest SNL's I've seen in quite some time. Betty was spectacular!!!
Thank you Betty for giving us so many years of enjoyment.

They should make her a regular on the show.....and let her be the lead comedian. She was fantastic and the writing team kicked it up a few notches. This is one of the best SNL shows that I have seen in a long time.

I agree!

I really liked when Jay-Z performed 'Forever Young' as a tribute to White right before the end of the show.

She was HILARIOUS!! Her timing was much better than most of her cast members and I laughed until I cried during the "large dusty muffin" bit!

Go Betty! I can't wait to see her new show on TV Land!

I was crying over the muffin skit as well. They did it a long time ago and they were making Christmas balls......it was hysterical. Best show in ages.

She breathed life into that show; the presence of Fey and Poehler made the present cast fade even further into the background. Not much chemistry on this cast this year.

Ms. White has a charming wit and an impeccable sense of timing. It was a pleasure to watch a true professional engaged in her craft at 88 and a half years old. The promo spots on NBC were hilarious and the show didn't disappoint.

I agree I caught the show
and it was a real hoot!!!

I enjoyed Betty's appearance....

A good friend of mine was part of the whole Betty White thing on Facebook, so after having millions of updates about it on my new feed I decided to watch SNL for once.

I thought it was a solid episode. I really liked the MacGruber sketches. I can't believe she is 88! It doesn't seem like she's going to retire anytime soon.

snowwie, she is 88 1/2, at that age half a year means a lot. She was great, and seems very fit. I hope to see her around for a long time to come.
Since your friend was part of the Facebook thing, maybe you can talk him into starting the Carol Burnett thing now...
Aloha

I have watched Betty White since day one whence she began her career with DeeJay Al Jarvis in Hollywood. They both had a TV talk show together. The setting was very sparse, plain backdrop, just two chairs and a plain looking desk. She was just as great then as she was now.
