Photos 3 and 18 just warm the cockles of my heart. Very touching. Does anyone know who designed that super gorgeous dress in photo 18?

One thing worries me about the Obamas. How are we ever going to top them? Have we actually reached some sort of peak? It seems as if we went directly from a nadir to a mountain top. It's not that I think they are perfect; however, it is hard to imagine anyone else in the WH now who could do nearly as well.

I don't know what that word "pathethic" means. But if you say so with two (2!!) exclamation points, then it must be so.

I agree , but I think it has to do with the contrast between now and 2000 -2008 and the people living there. Bush was the world joke and Obama is our best hope

Two hundred thirty four years from now, a transformed nation stands and takes stock of the long arduous climb towards true greatness -- not by decree but by simply (and yet…not so simply) being. These pictures, do they mark the rebirth? …of Kool… of courage, of that spirit that built railroads, concrete roads, bridges and dams…………and that gave a damn enough to say – we the people.

One cannot know the future.

The present (for me) as it relates to politics, is great deference and concern for a young leader as he navigates his way through the perilous murky waters of change through political intrigue, as he battles what must be his own internal maze of conflicting opinion about this or that, relating to or stemming from intellectual indoctrination vs. gut feeling coming in gut check moments with character defining overtones. It may appear sometimes that I am against the president in my commentary on this or that. To quote Morgan Freeman as president in the Movie Deep Impact, “It only appears that way”. This president has already proven – transformative. Another thing that may elude the jaundiced eye is that I do truly love this country by the people forming it and our collective potential to do and be great. Let us remember the problem solving model however:
01:19 AM on 05/19/2010
II
Acknowledgement – Houston, we have a problem.
Investigation – or, if we seek it we shall find it – the truth
Solution derivation based on results of investigation – That aha moment
Testing before deployment – Do no harm
Deployment – Be the Change

We are bogged down in the investigative phase of change, with much rancor and rebuttal heard from all sides. Solutions emerge and deploy, yet we have not cohesion concerning that derived and the effectiveness of that deployed as seen in all available test cases. They say the general public does not understand the sausage making. Ahhh, but we do, we all know negotiation, deliberation, and moments demanding courage but inviting weak knees. Change is indeed as hard as the resistance to it.

Anyway, these are but a few thoughts generated by these snapshots of real human beings applying their lives to the cause of a better country, for themselves and for every you and every me dotting the expanse of our nation sky.

i got a jolt with our pres sitting at the kitchen table. that's what our kitchen looked like growing up until around 1985 (these people are due for an update) but it practically looks like he's sitting in my memories growing up. the president is really sitting in a regular person's home -- super cool. wouldn't you love to have a dinner chat with him? hang out over meatloaf and ask him all the who/what/where/why questions that aren't getting answered by the media?

my thoughts exactly. glad to see that i can keep my high regards for them and that they've been consistent since the election. (though i have disagreed with the pres on a couple things) it's too often i lose respect for elected officials, but i hope they don't let me (us) down.

Beautiful family; I always find myself excited to have them be the face of America as a family unit.

That photo of the naturalization ceremony brought tears to my eyes. I don't think most Americans realize how many people who fight for our country in the uniforms of all the services aren't even citizens yet.

I just love FL Michelle. We have us a very athletic first lady. She is seen running, and jumping rope with children, and doing all kinds of active/athletic things, with children. Playing active games. This is so great, and it is a first as far as first ladies we have had.
