"A longer version of the video posted by McMahon, who said her campaign provided some research information to the newspaper, shows Blumenthal at the beginning of his speech correctly characterizing his service by saying that he "served in the military, during the Vietnam era."
Typical GOP smear campaigning. They seized on an innocent mistake and switched on the blathering idiots in the Press, who won't do their investigation before condemning.

I am in CT, and I have to tell you, we have the BEST Attorney General ever! - Richard Blumenthal. We WON'T let crooked Linda and her heavy purse put him down.

I knew this guy was going to win. It was a hit job by Republicans. They handed it off to the New York Times.

And all it took to debunk the story was a high school level English comprehension.

Shame on the Times, this really shows how little they investigate. They aren't even phoning it in anymore. They're just letting the opposition research teams phone it in. Hell, they probably knew it was bunk and printed it anyway.

Come time, we will REPLACE Libermann with somebody decent.
Remember he wasn't always this bad.

Nutcase... very considerate question; and nick, too.

Yeah why would anyone vote for Linda McMahon.

Because there's an "R" next to her name on the ballot. No other reason, unless they're a really, REALLY big fan of men in spandex beating on eachother.

Maybe this guy has a good reputation with being effective, despite his scandal in Connecticut. Or else maybe his opposition within the party was no good. Hopefully, his pug opponent is a lo ser too.
10:23 PM on 05/21/2010
what is the strategy here ye?
10:37 PM on 05/21/2010
The strategy is: puup as much as you can and hope that the voters will use the repubs to mop the floor with...

Like Massachusetts looked a month before Brown won, this is one of those impossible to lose races that the Democrats are going to figure out a way to lose.

I've been worried about that myself. Quite frankly, I hope that Blumenthal doesn't just sit back and assume that the win is his for the taking. He needs to be out there campaigning and pointing out the hypocrisy of Linda McMahon's ads which describe her as "real". This woman hasn't been real since God knows when.

Just what we need, another lawyer in the Senate and one who's slate is stained beforehand. I blame politicians for taking advantage of us when we're stupid enough to nominate a guy who lies about being a Marine in Vietnam......
11:06 PM on 05/21/2010
What you apparently do need is a woman who made a fortune on professional wrestling, which we all know is fake. Excellent qualifications.

Are you a Democrat?

No. But why would that matter anyway? Do you have a problem or a fear of gay people? Are you worried that one could convert you if you don't pray hard enough?

That pretty funny considering your name is one step away from circlej*rk, and we all know what that means, don't we?

And what is Linda McMahon's claim to fame? Oh right, pumping her employees full of steroids, glorifying spousal abuse, and having a wrestler portray a mentally challenged adult and get beat up.

And you say the Democrats are "morally bankrupt"?
10:16 PM on 05/21/2010
Why nominate Blumenthal, when Connecticut is bursting with candidates just as smart and accomplished whose integrity has not been called into question?

I'm guessing because he has the most name recognition, just the same as with McMahon.

Why do these chicken hawks have such sex appeal to the political movers and shakers? I don't get it. Were no Democrats available who hadn't lied about their service record?

I can't believe he's the best Democratic candidate we've got. What's really sad, though, is that Linda McMahon is the best the Republicans have to offer.

But now that she's in the race, I guess Blumenthal can host fundraising dinners at Hooters and have bikini carwashes, because there's not really anything McMahon can say to that.

Jeez. Bad, bad move, CT Dems. I'd really prefer to let the Republicans hang themselves instead of giving them rope to hang us.

Wrong!
He did not intend to lie. Did you read the article?
