Just because I am criticizing Obama doesn't make me on the other teams. People this isn't a game where you cheer for you team no matter what they do because they are your team. This is real life--people are what they say and do. I castigated Bush and Cheney for the lies about WMDs and their cynical manipulation of terror alerts. And I am calling Obama on this now--he has taken responsibility (because he cannot handle being thought weak and powerless and gutless-whcih it turns out he is) so fine he's responsible. So now I am castigating him. Palin was very wrong with "Drill, baby, drill"--notice how's she's shut up now? Rush and Paul are idiots. But Obama and Congress are a bunch of self-serving con artists.
09:22 PM on 05/29/2010
and yet you post nothing that Obama could do that isn't already or is in the process of being done.

How about arresting Bush and Cheney, and the BP execs that killed 11 people by blowing up a rig (intentionally) and creating a toxic chemical soup in the Gulf that will rain toxins all over North America, not to mention leave the Gulf economy in ruins. The bankers got money pronto, but the Gulf businesses are going broke, with no help from the government or their business partner BP. How would you like to be blown to smithereens by explosive gases escaping from the earth at over 4000 PSI? Would that float your boat? Get real.

It is interesting to watch how the right-wing media have reacted to this disaster. It appears they have decided to try to change subjects, yelling for Obama to be impeached over some minor event that is not a crime and has no importance. Oh well, what did we expect.
11:48 AM on 05/30/2010
They are not calling for impeachment. That's inaccurate. They are sweeping this story under the mat because they are huge supporters of big oil.

What next, plunger?

I want a hurricane to suck up all the oil then get struck by lightening then move inland.

Yep, a 2 mile wide flaming hurricane. That oughta get their attention.

Let's chuck some presidential golf balls into the well head, along with some BP execs, the windbag queen of england, and then send Malia into the BP boardroom with a water gun to squirt that hot mess all over the freshly pressed white collars of the BP board of directors. The democratic enclave of Ann Arbor is up in arms over this and if Obama is losing support in the Berkley of the midwest, all his fund raising efforts in support of democrats is a waste of time. Somewhere in all his learning he never understand that people are Americans, not democratics or republicans per se. And they want to be led in times of crisis and they want quick law enforcement to address their grievances. Let's face it - Obama is nothing more than a handmaiden for companies like BP that now control the new Corporate States of America. Breaking news on CNN - Gulf seafood sellers going bust without a dime from BP. Now where will they get the money to pay the lawyers to file suit against BP in Houston? Misery.

God doesn't visit this upon us. We visit this upon ourselves. We have fouled our world for decades and now we wring our hands and ask how this happened? We need to have a collective "come to Jesus" meeting and fast!! If we want to avoid a world where our grandkids have to wear respirators to live we had better get busy repairing our planet. I don't believe it's too late, but it's awfully close.

Agreed and fanned. It's too bad the Judeo-Christian religion chose to kick Adam and Eve out of the garden of Eden. That effectively made mankind separate from nature. We need to climb the garden wall and learn how to reconnect with our natural world. And you are right. It is getting awfully close.

I REALLY wish that the folks on this site would get their collective sh*it together, headline-wise.

Please tell us if it's in the Atlantic of Pacific basin for one.

And why is this news? Everybody knows that the hurricane season in the eastern Pacific starts May 15, not like the Atlantic season that starts next Tuesday.

.....and the Gilded Age II Plutocrats who own and control the Country and its institutions are ecstatic that these pathetic Dupes, especially the imbeciles with the teabags hanging off their hats and/or packing guns and displaying posters with misspelled words, are mindlessly supporting the quasi-fascist agenda of our Plutocracy.

So bring in 2012 how is that going to make a difference? BP lied and screwed the whole country. The MMS was under Bush first. Did you forget when Bush/Cheney came into office in 2000 that had a behind the close door meeting with big oil business. A list was requested several times that wasn't let out by the Bush team. Cheney let the big oil companies run and write the regulations. Now what would have happened if Bush was in office. Not a damn thing because they allowed them to do what they wanted and now this adminstration is having to clean the mess they left behind. Now it wouldn't make a difference because they still haven't stopped the hole. Stop blaming Obama. He didn't cause it. Damn you people that blame him for everything. You all never give him a break. Now the republicans are crying for big government to take over the mission. Some republican today wants Obama to move his office to Louisanna. What is that going to do. He is trying. Stop complaining and give suggestions. Phew, sorry.

I spoke with my sister who lives on the beach in Pensacola (Gulf Breeze) this afternoon. She put her house up for sale two weeks ago. After 5 hurricanes and now this oil, she is out of there....she is retired USArmy Major and has full retirement benefits. She bought a trailer and is going to figure out what she wants to do - pretty cool to be able to do that at age 50!

She did SERVE 25 years as a BlackHawk pilot but said she is sick of the BS and has turned into a total Obama fan. Thank you very much.

This BP spill just put her over-the-top - she was one of the pilots who worked the Exxon Valdez spill and said that spill was nothing compared to this OIL VOLCANO wreaked upon us by the Big Oil Rethugs.

Well after 21 yrs of army duties my husband and I retired to Tn in a small town. Peaceful and quiet, you betcha. But worrying about people is still there. I try not to watch much news. But it still doesn't go away. I worry about my fellow citizens. God bless the people in the Gulf. I wish all the people who wanted drill baby drill to have havoc at their door step and see how truly people are suffering. You listening Sarah Palin

i am interested to see how sleazy the insurance companies will be. sure Mr. Smith, we will reimburse you for the water and wind damage, but sorry your policy does not cover oil. you'll have to get it off your roof, cars, dining room floor, etc. yourself.

same thought ran through my mind as I made my insurance payment today. (15 miles from the GoMEX - about 100 miles WNW of BP ground 0.

Actually, it's less likely to head our way across the Pacific towards Hawaii, than it is to head across the isthmus and then strengthen in the Gulf of Mexico. You were right first time.

Not wishing a storm on anybody, but I am SO relieved this one is forming in the Pacific, and not in the Atlantic with a chance of heading into the Gulf.

As a Gulf coast resident, I am dreading this storm season like no other, ever before it. The BP mess will become exponentially more horrible when the first storm comes through....

I'm not so sure you need to worry about that. Oil doesn't 'evaporate' and come down on us like water does as rain. Now the waves, yes. But I don't think they will get too far inland.

I am no expert or anything.. (except building websites!)
