The IDEA'S been around for a few years, the house itself won't be completed till the end of 2010 or so.

Why can't HP just contact the image owner and get permission to use one of the pics? Why do they insist on using stock photos that aren't relevant?

Plus, they spelled Malibu as "Malubi". How about a little effort from the editors.

I like the design a lot. And she can further recoup her costs by charging her guests per bag. heck, they'll be expecting it!

"A Malibu, Calif. resident with a lust for aviation and creative upcycling enlists an architect to transform a retired Boeing 747 jumbo jet into a hilltop dream home."

soooo.. you choose to accompany this story with a photo of British houses with a British airplane flying over? in Malibu, U.K.?

While unique and interesting to be sure, it's a long way from being green. I'm betting solar and wind from her location would generate enough power for her and a half dozen of her neighbors.

And just how much in resources will be wasted to turn this guy's fantasy into reality? All that aluminum is recyclable and he sure should be able to build a very nice house which makes use of solar and wind power for a lot less money.

This 'THING" is far from being "green".

Can;t completely agree with this. Reuse is reuse. And new construction eats up LOTS of material!
Minor point, the owner is a woman. Unless you mean the interviewed architect, of course.

I'm amazed that the Fox anchors didn't suggest she might be a commie with all that "green-we-have-a-finite-amount-of-resources" talk.

not very wide, but plenty of square feet of living space. The bathrooms need work. I saw buses and other items made into living spaces, even cargo containers.

Did you click on the link? The picture above is just a a plane flying.. the actually house is using components of a plane in it's design .. like the wings removed and used as two parts of the roof.

Cool design actually.
