Standards? What standards? I don't know of any Republican standards other than cutting taxes for the wealthy.

Oh my, Utah does not like her? Too bad. Another heard from behind the Zion Curtain.

Most repressive culture in the country.

"A supreme court justice needs both a Christian background and, more importantly, the appropriate male genitalia. General Kagan regrettably does not meet this standard."

From what I've heard, the members of Congress who meet at C Street have been quite inappropriate with their genitalia. But it's OK for them. They're doing God's work.

I prefer that she doesn't meet Mitch's standards. His standards suck. He doesn't want a "rubber stamp" for Obama? I don't want a "rubber stamp" for corporate America.

Why would Hatch want Kagan? She's not male, has not demonstrated any tendency towards bigotry, suppression of women's rights, or support of the corporate overlords. Worst of all, Obama wants her, which is more than enough reason to despise anyone. Maybe if she were dependent on big Pharma and health insurers like Hatch, she'd be more palatable.

Not only that, she's never been accused of inappropriate sexual behavior in the workplace. No wonder Hatch can't relate!

Senator-you leave a lousy legacy. Doing anything and everything to stop the progress of the Obama administration is counterproductive to your job description. Ms. KIagan is a fine candidate, this is all about BS politics!

Conservative...dialogue welcome!

It would help if she actually answered the questions instead of deflecting them with obfuscation...but who wants to judge her based on real answers when they can rubber stamp her like the democrats will? If Kagan wanted to sail through the hearings, then she should have answered the questions with real answers. She didn't...and I hope she is not confirmed.
12:59 PM on 07/05/2010
Did you ever watch Roberts or Alito's hearings? Oh yeah their answers were real heart felt. Especially when Alito would rather say that he lied on his resume than admit to belonging to a club that wanted to keep woman and minorities out of Princeton. I guess it is better to say that you lied on your resume than to say that you actually belonged to the club but who was he trying to impress by saying he belonged to such a club?
01:51 PM on 07/05/2010
I guess when both Roberts and Alito perjured themselves during their confirmation hearings, that was okay with you?

Tough you are finding out elections do have consequences. Who cares what standards a pack of right wing screamers of "NO" and " I hope he fails" might have.

After destroying the notion the GOP is the party of "family values" you have nothing left to judge anyone by, so get off that high horse and shove it.

What standard, is she not a big d0uche bag? Well Alito and Roberts fill that bill quite well.
11:28 AM on 07/05/2010
Kagan was good enough for Hatch to vote for her as Solicitor General who represents the Government before the SC on issues where laws, written by people like Senator Hatch, were unclear.

He wanted her to clean up his screwups and now he doesn't?
08:55 AM on 07/05/2010
Where are these wingnut Senators when a GOP president sends a nominee to them for confirmation? This is all party politics, the republicans will vote against her simply because she is Obama's choice. They didn't protest with Roberts and Alito did they?

What standard? All the Repubes do is say "NO!" Don't take much standard to do that....

Mr. Hatch and Mr. McConnell have paid MS. Kagan a wonderful compliment. She does not meet
their standards. From those two this is very high praise. She is way too smart and good for them.
