He, in order to do "the right thing" should Resign from the bench. If he fails to resign, we should look into Impeachment. I should think such a Conflict of Interest, would be of such magnitude and seriousness that in order to Protect the Constitution of these United States, No Other Reasonable Alternative Exists to deal with this matter.

It's a nice idea, fredamae, but Thomas wouldn't know the right thing if it bit him on the behind. This man has no honor and is incredibly weak. If he did have have any integrity, he would resign. There's no way in hell he could be impartial.

Have you ever known a GOP shill to do the right thing?
10:13 AM on 07/08/2010
Sadly, no. However, this is Required to be (as I understand) a Politically Neutral Body.
Do We seek advice from the Constitution in order to deal with the "political Justices" on the bench?

I don't mind that some are "conservative" and that we disagree...we do need the balance.....but the issue at hand here, is the Politicization of our SCOTUS and We "should" be able to rely upon our Constitution to protect Us from the consequences of their politically motivated determinations.

Just a thought..perhaps I am wrong in my thinking...

pretty serious stuff if you were a Justice who was concerned about conflicts of interest. Justice Thomas, however, wouldn't know one if it ran him over in the Kroger parking lot!

Too bad we don’t have an independent media outlet that would dare investigate this. The president so much as sneezes and the right mounts an attack.
Is this a corporate gift thanking Mr. Thomas for his vote on the recent decision allowing corporations unlimited political contributions or a person or group trying to gain influence for future rulings? In either case it is disturbing.
If a Supreme court justice appointed by an Democratic presidents wife pulled something like this, the Knuckle draggers would be screaming at the top of their lungs. If a Democratic member of congress’s wife did something like this, they be hung from the rafters.
Somehow these loonies are still in control and we have to wrestle that control away.

"the stands that he has on the different positions that align with our own"

This is from Carl Graham, president of the conservative Montana Policy Institute (quoted above and referring to Justice Clarence Thomas). I thought Justices were supposed to be impartial - not have knowable 'positions'.

And isn't it just dandy that -

"Because of a recent Supreme Court decision, Citizens United vs. Federal Election Commission, the group may also spend corporate money freely to advocate for or against candidates for office."

There is something very wrong here!

Can any conservative be honest and admit what the press coverage would be if this was a Democrat or perish the thought a progressive spouse?

I didn't think so!

I remember all the supposed conflicts of interest the media warned Hillary Clinton was going to have because of the Bill Clinton's Global Initiative and all the safegaurds they had to put in place to placate everyone.

It is a double standard.

Not quite but thanks for playing.

A Supreme Court Justice makes rulings that affects the entire country and the failure of Thomas to disclose her contributors calls into question each and every ruling Thomas will make. Unless he recuses himself or she reveals her $$ backers--it smells and there is no equivalency to Clinton raising monies for charities and Hilary's role.

"As a 501(c)(4) nonprofit, Liberty Central can raise unlimited amounts of corporate money and largely avoid disclosing its donors.

Because of a recent Supreme Court decision, Citizens United vs. Federal Election Commission, the group may also spend corporate money freely to advocate for or against candidates for office."

Seriously.

Clarence Thomas should not only be disbarred & removed from the Court, but the Citizens United ruling should be immediately overturned by this.

Are you f'n kidding me?!?

Oh yeah, that's what this country needs, judges that paint their prejudices up on billboards.

The Fat Cats keep giving these Baggers donations to put the pinch on the little guys.
How sad to have all the advantages, and still want more. Who are they fighting?
The poor, the disabled, the unemployed? Worthy opponents all.

Their argument is we should not create a welfare state of people who refuse to work. But when asked about the children, the mentally challenged, the old, and those temporarily out of work,
they fall silent. It is true, the money is theirs, but the playing field is not level.

Money has corrupted the highest court in the land. We have no place for an appeal.
Now, more than ever, we need to join the call for change.

But first we need to look carefully at the actions of Mzzz. Thomas and see what we can see.
The lines have been blurred. Money and corporations rule the day. No more can we look to the courts for justice. They have been compromised. Our battle moves to the polls.

Where is the DNC and its chairman? Howard Dean is gone and his absence is being felt.
How many people know the name of his replacement? We all know Michael Steele.

The media constantly asks who is really in charge of the RNC. I want to know who is leading
the fight for the DNC. I know the name, but hardly know the face. The stakes are too high for this in action.. What is the strategy? Who has the directives?

Nope, not at all. But, one would think with a mate on the Supreme Court bench they would keep their views to themselves.

Shouldn't the fact that Thomas voted against the FEC in "Citizens United vs. Federal Election Commission", shouldn't that be considered conflict of interest, since his vote has benefitted his wife. I think Thomas should be impeached and throw off the court.
