I got 6 hits, only one of which is a person that I actually know in real life. The others wer random chicks that I talked to on dating sites and whatnot. No real info leaks to be worried about.

this just in: hufpo will use speculation and fear to drive readership. are you shocked?

Scary. The only mitigating factor is that the data are all wrong. I have no idea who these listed people are other than that they responded to my Craigslist merchandise ads!

I know one thing about Google.

Their stock is worth half of what it was 3 years ago.

And yet the insiders continue to sell.

What are the safest sites to use?
08:49 AM on 08/10/2010
Google is fine to use as long as you:

1) Don't log in
2) Don't use Google Toolbar
3) Dont use Google Desktop

You can also set your browser so that it clears out the cookies after each session.

I won't use verison now and I have allways tried to avoid google. Someone needs to start feeding this info to the teabaggers, you know they'll flip out about it and start holding protest. That could get this more in the news, and it could also get them off that silly birth certificate thing, at least for a little while.

Big Deal, I could find out anything about anyone on this message board with $20 and an hour to kill -- oh, and also the motivation to do so.

No one's information is secret. Not your SS#, Address, Occupation, Relationships -- nothing.

The good thing is that, if we don't like such things, we have choices -- don't log in to such services as Google, Yahoo, etc. Certainly don't give personal information in your profile if you do. Use proxies when you surf. There are lots of ways to remain anonymous.

This is the reality we've chosen -- not necessarily individually, but as a society.

Anyone here ever read the book The Traveler by John Twelve Hawks (no info on the author just that he is living off the grid)

The book does make you think about how much we are monitored and the portfolio of information on each individual that is out there from images to movement to documentation.
