Smartest President ever ? ... not even close.
08:48 PM on 09/15/2010
BOOM !

The battle has begun.

The Tea Party is busy reminding America's self-annointed ruling class that we DO NOT have a ruling class !

The Tea Party's momentum promises to spill over onto Democrats in time ... and the corrupt career politicians from "both" political parties are running scared.

The battle lines are being drawn.

Some are lining up to defend the corrupt 2 party politicial system that has nearly bankrupted our great nation ... and some are lining up to dismantle America's self-annointed ruling class.

Will you line up to defend $13 trillion in debt ... nearly 93% of our nation's GDP ?

Or ... will you line up to dismantle the corrupt career politicians that are bankrupting our once great nation ?

The Tea Party is busy firing the first salvos ... the battle has begun.

America's self-annointed ruling class is officially under attack.

It's "us" against "them" ... not each other.

Wow. With an attitude like that, no wonder your numbers aren't so big. Honestly, I can say I know of only 1 person who embraces those beliefs, and the other 99 of us have kind of always looked at him a little funny.

So people it is now up to dems and those who think these candidates are two extreme. We need to vote against these potty-baggers and send them oacking. Just remember when you vote Bachman could be speaker of the house and the leader of these nut -jobs.

The teaparty is just a bunch of pasty old white people who want your kids to pay for their social security and medicare, and for your kids not to get any. They want to carry guns wherever the h3ll they want, and they want to discriminate against whoever they d*mn well please. Oh, and they're religion is the right one.
08:34 PM on 09/15/2010
Today the Republicans are reconciling, and resigning themselves to the fact that they are going to have to support these nutbag.....er....candidates that have won these primaries.

Now the Democrats/progressives/liberals, including some of and on HP, who shall remain nameless, should put down the swords they have been wielding against each other, including the President, for the last 18 months. (I know it's been 19 months, but the administration only got one month of solid support)

Let's step back from the usual Democratic circular firing squad and unite behind our candidates before we lose any more momentum. (Much of the slow down is due more to Democrats rather than the other side. They just wait for us to make disparaging remarksabout each other, and within minutes, are replaying them in campaign ads.)

If we don't stop it, we're going to end up with nothing at all.

The tea party is simply the base of the republican party.

It’s like republicans without sanity and rationality.

The teabaggers are trying to convince people they are a third party independent of the D's and R's.

They do not want to do the heavy lifting that comes from building a national party. Instead they want to leech off of the GOP infrastructure while calling themselves something else.

I understand the Republican brand today, by about 30%-26% is more broken than the Democratic brand, so trying to come up with a new marketing strategy is understandable.

Every teabagger will run on the REPUBLICAN party line because the "Tea Party" does not have ballot status in any state.

Conservatives simply look at the two GOP candidates in a race, decide which one is more conservative, then call that one the "Tea Party" candidate, and, presto, a new party is born.

It is shameful that Republicans today won't call themselves what they are: Republicans.

And conservatives again show themselves for what they really are: a bunch of moral and politcal cowards who do not have the courage of their convictions to form a true third party to take on what they claim they so detest about governing of America today.

No guide is necessary. The bagger 'movement' is funded by corporate millionaires, while the rest of us try to make ends meet in this disaster of an economy, they are buying our government and calling it 'grassroots'.

Let me ask a question to the Tea Party movement...

Are you all wealthy? Is your family all wealthy? Are all of you getting a check from the Koch billionaire brothers to be part of the TP movement? If not...what are you going to do when your inspiring candidates your elected start dismantling your benefits and that of your parents and grandparents? Will your benefactors corporate billionaire brothers give you a check every month to help finance your living expenses? Will they pay all your medical expenses when you need to seek medical care? You or your family members really don't need Social Security or Medicare? If you are not being paid by your benefactors or have wealth of your own...what are you going to do when you or your parents or grandparents are thrown out into the street for none payment on your rent or hounded by creditors for payment on the hospital bill? Think about what you are doing people you are voting against your best interest for what? To satisfy some billionaires need for more power and money?

1. Repeal the Affordable Care Act (Health Insurance Reform)

2. Privatize Social Security or phase it out altogether

3. End Medicare as it presently exists

This is just the tip of the iceberg!

The dsiconnect with the real world is what scares me. We pay the lowest taxes in the western world and have the best infrastucture(though ageing). They don't understand the difference between democratic socialism and communism. they are willing to give up the social saftey net that has been in place for years andwere fought for over the blood sweat and tears of many generation of american who fought and died to get these.

I understand your concerns awake108...this is getting very scary now for the future the seniors, poor and disabled...the entitlements that will be taken away...I applaud you for remembering what it took for us to get these safety nets for people who have either worked most of their lives for the Social Security, or have a chronic disability that is their only source of income...We only hope that the Tea Party/Democratic voter will wake up to ALARM BELLS going off and vote in their best interest in November!

Why no support ever from MSM or Washington for anything Liberal VS. These folks of Conservative world? Will real Liberals ever raise their voice loud enough to be heard and supported as much as these TeaCups?

Considering Republicans outvoted Democrats in primaries for the first time since the great depression, the answer, from the reality based universe, must be yes.

the Teapots & GOPers are going to split the ticket. Too many GOPer losers refuse to back their Teapot rivals. And I doubt the Majority of Americans are so radical as to elect these wing nuts.
08:22 PM on 09/15/2010
I've been hearing that today, in fact, I guess you just heard Rick Sanchez say that. But that is the most useless number I've ever heard. Race by race, it means nothing. It depends on whose running, and whether the Democrats are highly dissatisfied with either of the candidates who are running in the primary. If they're not, they won't come out to vote. But, that does not mean they will not come out if they are highly dissatisfied with the Republican who is running against the winner of the Dem. primary.

Also, look at the vote totals in some of these smaller states like Delaware. Didn't O'Donnell win by about 4,000 votes. Has she reached her peak? Will moderate Republicans come out to vote for her? Will independents bother?

THOSE are the unknown equations.

The Tea Party are a collection of hyperindividualists with their own individual ideas and opinions about why they disapprove of the Democrats and Obama and what constitutes a RINO (someone who should be kicked out of the collective for not sufficiently adhering to the groups ideas, myriad and divergent as they are) and who very strongly believe in the Constitution as explained to them by other like-minded - often rich and ivy-league educated, but not in an elitist way - hyperindividuals with their own opinions of the numerous ways in which the Tea Party members should complain about how a government they never showed a lick of interest in should be run, three decades after the country went flying off the rails.

The tea party was a little fire that was set by the right wing of the right wing. The little fire then found itself under the glare and active participation of fox news. Funding came along in the form of corporate money intent on building the bottom line of companies that ship jobs over seas. The GOP dropped by to cook a few hot dogs because everybody else realizes that the taxes, defecits and unemployment were theri fault. The fire then found 100,000 gallons of Gasoline due to ongoing unemployment and lots and lots of made up boogey men who want to build a monument to the 9-11 terrorists.

Boom. However, like a gasoline fire, the flame burns hot and leaves a charred mess.

This will be the high water mark for the movement. Everything else has been burned down.
