While I am not a fan of the Rancic's love of emoting for the masses nor their reality show, I am saddened to hear of their loss. How heartbreaking.

I am sorry that Guiliana and Bill lost this pregnancy, especially after Guiliana sacrificed and gained 5 lbs, risking her career in the entertainment industry to do so. Look on the bright side, you can still fit in your size 0 wardrobe. If you really want to become a parent you might consider putting your ego on hold, and gain enough weight to create an environment where an embryo can thrive. Women do it all the time, and then they lose it and go back to work. Heidi Klum anyone?

Good point. She looks just like the artists portrait rendering of that alien that abducted the guy in the middle of Nebraska or Oklahoma

Excuse me to all of the jealous skinny bashers out there, but in my first month of pregnant, I hit a low of 99 pounds. I am also anemic, and I have always been small as far as size. I carried mine to full term, and I was as healthy as can be aside from my anemia. Just because a woman has a thin figure does not mean in any way that she is unhealthy, and she could have carried her pregnancy to term unless she did something that would ultimately harm that pregnancy, or she could have just miscarried. Sometimes a pregnancy just wasn't meant to be.

I'm sorry to hear of the loss. A miscarriage is very devastating. If they decide to try again in the future, I wish them good luck.

If she is too thin, she might not get her period and not have normal cycles to get pregnant.

Not true. I was 100 lbs when I got pregnant (i'm 5'5") and had an 8 lbs baby. I don't think her weight is the problem.
11:55 AM on 09/30/2010
I agree with you about her cycles. And for you Samantha, if she is being bashed for her skinniess it's because her OBGYN told her to gain weight so she could be more successful at conceiving. If you have ever read about this you would know that for her to gain weight is a major sacrifice and I guess she is choosing her anorexia over child.

No it is not jealousy at all.

There are plenty of women in this world who are skinny and don't have issues with fertility but Giuliana herself has publicly spoken about how she was advised to gain weight by health care practioner(s) to help with her fertility.

I gotcha. I don't watch the show much, so I wasn't aware of that little tidbit.

Millions of very skinny women get pregnant all the time. My guess is that they are too stressed - telling the whole world they are trying to get pregnant puts a lot of pressure on them, and with each episode of their show, they have to say they're not pregnant. When couples tell themselves they MUST get pregnant in a specified amount of time, it won't happen. Yes, they could have a legitimate medical issue, but I sincerely believe that being super-mega-ultra-obsessed about pregnancy can prevent it from happening.

OK. I'm prepared to get flamed for my personal admission, but here goes.
I do not wish a miscarriage on anyone, and I sympathize with the pain of that terrible loss...
otherwise, though, I am getting tired of couples lamenting their inability to get pregnant.

Reproduction should be considered a privilege, a blessing - not a next thing in the to-do list to which we are all entitled. I also wish people in this position were more open to adoption.

I never married, never had a child, and sometimes grieve -privately- for what will not be, in my life. (However, I will look into adoption.) In the mean time, no one pities me for having no family.

just a thought. attack away.

Nobody is going to attack you because you chose not to marry or have a child..

As a mother with a daughter who suffered a miscarriage, found out she has 2 birth defects which prevent her from getting pregnant the old-fashioned way and just underwent IVF I would hope you would not attack me for lamenting my daughter and son-in-law's despair and sense of loss and would understand the pain involved for everyone who goes through this experience.

amen littlepuffycloud. thank you for your post. i had a stillborn son, its really a painful subject. thank you for stating it so clearly.

My sister is 30 years old and just suffered her second miscarriage two weeks ago. She wants nothing more than to be able to have a child of her own. I think if she could afford IVF she and her husband would do so. I said all of this to say, we don't know if Bill's and Guiliana's desire to have a child is just so that they tick off their checklist. Losing a child isn't easy, for whatever reason they chose to have one.
10:32 AM on 09/30/2010
She really does need to eat. You can't be so emaciated and expect to be healthy and cary a healthy pregnancy. This is what society is telling us an attractive women must look like, but historically this was not the case a more healthy body was appreciated.

The only way its "God's" fault is if it prevented you from putting food into your body. Maybe a little responsibility instead of throwing blame at some mythical creature.
10:26 AM on 09/30/2010
My heart goes out to them - its heartbreaking for a couple to get pregnant and then lose the baby to a miscarriage. I hope they don't give up just yet but take some time to recoup.

Agreed, thank you! There are many, many reasons that miscarriages occur. Maybe it had something to do with her weight and maybe it didn't. I'm a woman of average weight and had three miscarriages so clearly there can be other factors involved besides your size.

Regardless of the reason, miscarriages are terrible, sad, frightening and painful moments and my heart goes out to her and her husband as they mourn their loss.

Plenty of experts have told her that but something tells me her husband likes skinny women and she's more worried about him straying than she is about not getting pregnant.

...to me, she's got the bobble-head appearance that I've seen on truly anorexic women.
(I hope, at least, she is taking care of her own health.)
