If you like, I'll re-post it with spelling errors so it looks more authentic.

Actually, GOP control of one or both houses might be helpful in cleaning up the national disgrace of letting businesses purchase votes and legispators. They probably just want some of the political credit for reform. The paradigm here is "glory first, country second". Sad, but probably true. The danger is that they will now be in the pockets of their "silent benefactors" and just keep the flow of $$ running.

If the foreign money is paid into the general fund and the general fund finances political ads, how do you filter it? If it all comes out of the same pot, every entity paying into that pot is paying a proportional amount towards everything that pot pays for.

Yeah, but they'll claim that it is a very small percentage of the pot. But when you think about it, do you really want to drink from a pot that contains only a small amount of arsenic?

How can you have definitive proof when the Chamber refuses to release a list of donors? I think one of the first things that must be done in campaign finance reform is that all groups, regardless of their intent or affiliation be required to LIST all donors. Blind support is not appropriate nor democratic.

The first thing needed in campaign finance reform is to get the finance out of it completely.... Publicly funded campaigns would cost Americans a few dollars each per year and remove a lot of the 'paid-for' factor in the politicians. If the corporations don't own them they are not beholden, except to the people, the taxpayers, who all contribute the same (small) amount. Since one dollar equals one vote, why not make sure everybody puts up the same dollar? If a mega corp has millions of dollars to spend, otherwise known as votes, then they will bend the rules in their favor every time.

The only problem with public funding of campaigns is deciding who decides who gets the public funding and when. Public funding insures that incumbents get the money first. It would make it much more difficult for a relative unknown to launch a successful campaign.

Public funding is a wonderful idea in theory but undermines true democracy - as it puts the government in charge of who is a legitimate candidate and who is worthy of funding. Limits on the amount any person or corporation can contribute to say $5000 a campaign and making all indirect contributions go away altogether is the answer - but neither party would go for this.

All I hear from the base is "name your donors, name your donors"....give me a break! If I were a donor I sure as heck wouldn't want to be named in this pois onous political atmosphere. The left is so down and desperate that they are just waiting to pounce on anyone and attempt to des troy their name and their position with nothing but rumors seen on a left wing blog!

Rove is correct to not name anyone if he wants donors to continue to give and I'll tell you this.....the elites always think Americans are stoopid. Not this time boys. YOU are the ones looking stoopid!!

And HEY OBAMA! What about all of that money YOU received during the election from "unnamed sources, eh??????

Let me see - so you are saying that supporting a candidate is something that is so dangerous that donors privacy must be kept secret, but direct donors to campaigns, giving as little as $25, must be listed by law?

follow the money. If the Chamber took in money say, from Dubai into an account and then gave money to a campaign or a TV ad out of that account then one can say some for sure things. If money is transferred form the 1st account to another and then spent om political activity I believe that is still illegal. Rove knows what the law is and he would push it as far as possible. I expect he has stepped over the line. Otherwise he wouldn't be so sensitive about this story.

Is that like Congressional dems are so sensitive about their record over the last two years and the issues of importance to voters? They don't call it the "Scarlet D" for nothing! Lets change the subject to the three issues most important to dems/libs: MUD, MUD and MUD! After all if the dems ran on their record we would have REPUBLICAN SUPER MAJORITIES!

You aren't concerned that foreign oil interests are flooding money into conservative groups to influence American elections?
Wake up, dude.

The Center for American Progress has documented that the Chamber aggressively raises money outside the United State from foreign entities--including state-run [OIL] companies in Bahrain, Abu Dhabi, India and Russia--and deposits that money into the same general fund used to fund the Chamber's political program.

Source: CREDO

I don't care if you are Republican, Democrat or Libertarian in your views. As an AMERICAN this should trouble you deeply.

The stench of fear and desperation coming from the left is truly a nauseating yet familiar odor. There is not one iota of evidence that the C of C has been taking illegal money, yet now the Obama administration claims the burden of proof lies on that of the accused? It just astounds me how many of you progressive hate-filled sheeple lap-up any thimble of garbage that spews from Gibbs, Axelrod, or Obama’s mouth. You liberals who support this kind of McCarthyism had better open your eyes, because it will come to your doorstep faster than you think.
Obama’s gov stands by and does nothing, except sue a state for attempting to protect its borders from foreign invasion. When has this ever happened in our history? We have SELF PROCLAIMED COMMUNIST and socialist groups - the enemy of this country - gathering with our leaders on the DC mall, and you people SUPPORT this garbage? I pray the winds of change hit this November and we get this country back on track to supporting freedom and prosperity, not liberal/union welfare handout policies that have turned us into a I-Me-Mine country.
