Progressive is good; regressive, not so much.

'He's a friend.'??? Is he still a friend? Do you have other friends like this? Is karl rove a friend? Lady, if so, you run with some nasty idological people. Probably should stay home and play your piano and stay out of public. (Like your hero, GW.)

"Over the top"? God forbid she call it what it really is; shameless, unrepentant race baiting. It is and has been a tactic of republicans since Nixon. One would think that a black woman raised in Birmingham AL in the 1960's would have harsher criticism.

No, he is desperate to get himself back in power. He is a trip with this Kenyan world view and "anti-colonist". I actually read the book and it really short on facts and heavy on opinion.

By the way, aren't Americans as a whole, all "anti-colonist"? Isn't this what our country was founded on - to be independent of England. I am not sure why Gingrich loves that whole saying so much.

Rice is the single biggest poster-woman for defending the Pavlovian accusations by the left that conservatives are racist. They would send this woman to the White House in a second.

Wrong!....and you know it - just promoting more distraction and misinformation.
07:12 AM on 10/14/2010
Who would send "this woman" to the White House? And who would use her as poster-woman to defend allegations that conservatives are racist? I don't really understand what your comment is trying to prove in the context of the original article.

"I know Newt Gingrich, he's a friend..." No, lady who had a Chevron oil tanker named after her. Newt Gingrich is nobody's friend.

Well said. His personal track record is one of wreckage, and his actions speak of one who is sorely challenged in the warmth and compassion department.

I don't understand it when Condy uses the perfectly up-to-date, politically correct phrasing: "over the top". Sometimes you need to be more direct and concise. All she needed to say way that Newt's comments were STUPID

While most of us feel impellent urgencies for things like urinating, eating or sleeping. Most politicians and pundits simply can't refrain from talking and commenting about other pundits' comments. Punditocracy. There is an incredible distance from hard facts (such as peeing, eating and sleeping). The same, I believe, is true for the media. These are virtual people. They are not real. Any sparrow has more influence on the real world than they do

Has Condi been in a coma since summer of 2008, that she just figured out the Republicans are racist, and it's her race they are -ist against?

Placing party loyalty before ethincs and morality and decency and even self respect. Yup, Conidi's a RepoTaliban alright.

I have always felt that she cries herself to sleep. It can be very lonely being a smart black woman. I am sure it is even more lonely being a Lone Ranger in the GOP.

It may take more courage being a black woman in the GOP than is appropriate. She would be more effective as a right of center advocate in the Democratic Party.

I was wondering when this bush crime family member would get the nerve to stick her head up

Exactly. That anyone gives her a pass or any credibility, other than being a lockstep neocon soldier, is beyond comprehension.

What I object to is her suddenly trying to rewrite her own family's history by associating herself with the 1960s civil rights movement, which she and her family only marginally supported.

She claims to have "played" with Denise McNair, one of the four little girls killed in the Birmingham 16th Street Baptist Church bombing. OK, that's fine. I'm sure little girls of that era played together. But what creds does that give Rice? She knew someone who was tragically killed. So what?

She claims her father refused to march for civil rights because he was afraid he would lose his temper and get arrested. I'm sure many other men who marched felt the same way, but they put themselves on the line.

She claims her family admired Martin Luther King --- apparently not enough to join him in fighting anti-racist laws and attitudes.

Condolleeza Rice is an articulate, accomplished woman. But as she proved time and again during her years shilling for Bush-Cheney as secretary of state, she's not one to stick her neck out, unless it benefits HER.

He is a man, with a wife and family colleagues fellow soldiers to support him. Condi gave her life to the Bush's very early in life, almost like entering a convent. It ain't easy being a single black female in a Republican world.
