We can pull this series out. We must for our prestige.

The word 'nasty' was introduced into sports lingo for what Lee did last night...

It's official: Cliff Lee is a cyborg sent from the future.

Dude ain't human...I thought he was finally going to come back down to Earth at some point last night, but he remains unhittable.

The Yankees looked like foolish children against him.

That's OK when we win in six we won't have to see him again.
01:03 PM on 10/19/2010
The series certainly isn't over yet. The Yankees could easily win the next three.

Tommy Hunter is no great shakes for the Rangers, and neither is AJ Burnout. Tonight could be an offensive massacre on both sides.

Ah, you Yankees' fans. This series should have Texas up 3-0. So far Sabathia has been just average in this year's postseason. Burnett has been worse than average the entire second half of this season. Hughes has never pitched in a must-win playoff scenario before. The Rangers' C.J. Wilson, who outpitched Sabathia in Game 1 of this series, gets another start against the vaunted, but so far ineffective, Yankees offense (8 runs in 3 games). And if the Yankees' can overcome all of that, they get Cliff Lee in a game 7 on the road in Texas.

Is a Yankee comeback possible? Of course, the Red Sox showed that in 2004 (woops, sorry for that reminder, Yankees' fans). But, based on the available evidence, is it probable?
11:59 AM on 10/19/2010
It's sure to be a fun with the remaining games. Will the Yankees send CC early? Can CJ keep up his pace, bolstered by his awesome sideburns?

Win or lose this series the Yankees will have completed one of the most successful 15 year periods in major sports history. They are averaging well over 90 wins a season, have made the playoffs 14 out of the last 15 years (really 15 out of 16) and that includes seven world series appearances and five wins. They have not finished less than double digits over .500 since 1992. That means an 8 year old kid attending his first Yankee game in 1993 is now a 25 year old man who has known nothing but success while being a Yankees fan.
Not to mention the Yanks took Team-of-the-Decade status for the 90's AND the 2000's.
No team is going to go all the way every year but the Yankees maintain excellence at an almost impossible level.

10:37 AM on 10/19/2010
That still requires AJ Burnout actually wins a game.
10:44 AM on 10/19/2010
Here's how I see it:

Burnett come through big-time tonight and the Yankee bats wake up 9Especially Tex & ARod)...

Sabathia pitches a strong 8 innings in Game 5, The Great Mariano closes it up...

The Rangers, now in desperation mode, start Cliff Lee on short rest in Game 6 and the Yankees hammer him...
10:04 AM on 10/19/2010
Wow. $200 million+ payroll, and they can't even BUY a run off of Cliff Lee.

But they CAN buy Cliff Lee. He's going to look great in pinstripes next year.
12:17 PM on 10/19/2010
And THIS is why the rest of the world hates the Yankees, and their foolish fans.
12:19 PM on 10/19/2010
Assuming the weird dimensions don't mess with him. I don't think they will, but it's a decent point.
