Why didn't you tell us before the election and why are you telling us now?
If the candidate doesn't want to talk to you then, have some Pride and ignore him now .
09:19 PM on 11/07/2010
Fine if he doesn't want to talk to the media. They should print whatever they want about him and don't give him the opportunity to refute it. If he didn't want to talk before, don't give him a chance to ever talk again. But have some real fun at his expense in the mean time.
Life of even just survival for 90% of the citizens in our country is about to end so who cares anymore? If I had a job in Texas with any ability to run an ad in a paper I'd make him so angry his head would explode. And I would enjoy doing it.

It's just like the candidates who don't want to debate. I say have the debate anyway with an empty podium with their name on it. Ask the questions and each time pan to the empty podium and say "Candidate X seems to have no response." Politicians must debate and answer media questions. It's part of the interview process for the job.

What's wrong with Perry's hair? Why are people dissing it?
10:27 PM on 11/07/2010
It doesn't move. I wonder how many cans of hairspray he goes through in a month...

The answer to this if for the press to stop covering him completely. Shun him as he is shunning them. No questions don't come to press conferences tell the public why and see how long he keeps this s*** up.

Perry's meteoric' rise to political stardom is briefly outlined in the wonderful documentary "Bush's Brain". Rove not only packaged and presented W, he was always on the look for talent needed in the next 5, 10, 15 years down the line to carry the public water for those Rove truly represents. I'm not surprised that Rove is such a master manipulator, I'm just surprised that he was able to do it all so easily with that big smarmy smirk on his face.

His credo is inherited from Coach Red Sanders, "winning isn't everything, it's the ONLY thing". And his favorite, 'always fight offense with more offense, never defend what you are accused of. Just shout something offensive back only louder".

A winning combo that has made this hateful, selfish, spiteful man the true king and policy maker of the GOP for so many years. Step aside lil griz, your fate is already charted by the rovians should you dare challenge the master.

Sounds like this is straight from the Republican Party/Fox Noise playbook

Of course, his punishment is he still has to be himself. When he enters a room, does anyone ever say "Oh, I'm so glad you are here. I've missed you so much."? Never. No matter how much he plays king maker, he's still surrounded by bagger-publicans. He's still Rove and can't escape himself.

If you're paying attention to Perry, then you're not really paying attention to Dewhurst who is really running things.

Perry actually ran a campaign based on ignorance. The less people knew about him, the more likely they were to cast a vote in his favor.

We watched "Bob Roberts" again this weekend, and it's more relevant now than ever.

The voters who re-elected Perry voted moreso to spite President Obama than for Perry. It'll be the same cycle we've seen the last two elections; Perry elected, insurance premiums rise--again, more toll roads, more cronyism, etc. I guarantee within three months we'll start seeing the op-ed letters stating they're 'fed up with Perry'. Again.

That said, while I'm glad that we on the left are more discerning and somewhat fickle when it comes to our party's candidates, I do somewhat envy the lockstep vote the GOP enjoys. A cardboard cutout would've won re-election this midterm as long as it had a (R) behind its name...

I'll take the difficulties of freedom over lockstep every day of the week. If someone said I'll quadruple your income but you have to be a bagger-publican, I would turn it down without a second thought. They seem to have a paucity of humanity and a mean-spirited approach to life that I would find shameful to emulate.
Fanned because I think you nailed it about how soon they will have buyer's remorse.

Why doesn't he kick out NASA and the EPA office in Houston while he is at it? I'm tired of my tax dollars going to such a nutty state. Austin is the exception but I have a Texan relative who told her child not to go to school there because the town is too liberal.

Close down all those military posts, too. Fort Hood and Fort Sam Houston can be relocated...perhaps to a state that doesn't take more from the federal government than it returns to the coffers.

Rick Perry knowingly ignored evidence as the overseer of a state sponsored murder of an innocent man. I wouldn't want to talk to the media after that either.

That was the biggest reason Perry shunned the press. He didn't want the Willingham case to rear its head at the height of election season. What's sad is that the tactic worked.

He dismantled the Willingham investigative board prior to his run-off primary with Sen Kay Bailey Hutchinson. There is talk that he may run for Prez, I want him out of Tx so bad, but not at the expense of the other 49 states..he is the son shrub never had and that is not a compliment either.

Notice to all on this thread:

Some of us Texans are not all evangelical, red-neck bumpkins who are righties.

Some of us are libs who try hard to bring out the blue wherever we are. We fight a hard fight. Please take note of our struggles. It's hard being surrounded by religious righties who like Perry's hair.

Ilk isn't a silly word. It has a very specific meaning as in "Palin and her ilk have nothing but mean-spirited ideas." It means type or sort and generally has a negative connotation. Suits Palin very well.
