"But District Attorney Mark Hurlbert says it wouldn't be wise to prosecute Erzinger -- doing so might hurt his source of income"

Is Erzinger paying Hurlberts income?

Yes, yes he is. District Attorney Mark Hurlbert sucks at the tete of Erzinger's wallet.

A college student hacks into Bill O'Reilly's on-line account and gets 30 months in prison. It's hard to reconcile the justice in these two cases!

Today a lady was given 36 years in prison for doing exactly what Erzinger was charged with a misdemeanor for-- leaving people to die in a pool of blood after hitting them with her vehicle.

Here's the link discussing the conviction:

Hurlsberg and this DA's office is a steaming pile of corruption, it appears. Seeming that it is open season on humans assuming you are a Wall Street fund manager, I will not be skiing in CO this year or any time thereafter until Hurlsberg is fired and/or in prison.

While I believe both are horrible and egregious cases, I don't think it's fair to equate this case to one in the link you provided. That woman killed 5 people. A family of 4 in one car and a 6 year old girl in another. Then with the help of her mother tried to cover it up.
02:25 PM on 11/10/2010
The wrongful act was the same, it's clear he would have ran whether he struck one person or five. Also, the facts that are coming out show he tried to cover it up just like the girl and her mom. He can stop to remove his broken bumper and hide it in his trunk only minutes from the accident scene but he can't stop at the accident scene to save the life he placed in dire jeopardy?

Further, the women convicted for 36 years was apparently much younger than the Morgan Stanley "wealth manager" in question, and therefore has much less of an excuse for his behavior-- this is the best this guy will ever be, and he is horrible.

Not much of a distinction. A kid who is not rich gets 36 years. A middle age very wealthy man gets a slap on the wrist. No justice in the era of no shame.

And this is what happens when you elect Republicans like Hurlbert .. I bet ten dollars you won't see teebaggiers screaming at townhall meetings for justice. I am sure the teebaggparty has no problem with this gozillionaire, Erzinger, getting off scott free after running over a cyclist and then fleeing the scene.. they only care about big government spending... such honorable people those teebaggiers..

Not who you know but who you blow and then pay for it in the same breath

I think the saying should go something like this, "It's not who you know, who you blow, but who you satisify."

In Colorado, you can buy a cyclist hunting license if you can afford it. The bag limit is three. Taxidermy and processing are extra.

He is not qualified to represent the people.

"But District Attorney Mark Hurlbert says it wouldn't be wise to prosecute Erzinger -- doing so might hurt his source of income."......

It must be nice to have the district attorney in your pocket, and have enough money to buy your way out of prison. I wonder how much money he paid the DA to drop the prosecution against him. Both him and the DA deserve to go to prison, but nothing will ever come of it, cause the DA has all the power, and he certainly is not going to prosecute himself.

What can you call it but a travesty? But it is indicative of the times we are living in. The unemployed are lazy, the hungry are drug addicts, and caring for those of lessor fortune is socialist. I would bet the farm that the DA is a republican.

This is far from the first time that Mark Hurlbert has abused his discretion as a member of the Bar and as a public servant. I have experienced the displeasure of his arrogance first hand and I have won, but at a great personal cost. The worst part about it is that he is supported politically, and financially, by others in the community that hold greater sway over public opinion. They should all be held accountable.

Think about it... This story has 5,587 comments, and only 213 of them have been approved to be printed. That's why everyone thinks The Huffington Post is a joke. Hitler had more tolerance for differing opinions then this site. At least FOX covers both sides of a story.

It appears that impeachment of a DA could be persued, but needs to come from the citizens ?
Any rumblings that, that has been looked into by anyone ?
