Can't we savor life by not killing countless turkeys every year?

Apparently not. American holidays are about death, just look at their histories.

Ok, Can't we savor life by not killing anything? One thing I am thankful for is the fact that that this is the first Thanksgiving I have had with out any dead animals on the table. My friends and family thought it would be hard, in reality it has been one of the easiest things I have ever done

My favorite prayer at Thanksgiving:

In the name of the father, the son, and the holy ghost.
Who eats the fastest gets the most.

Amen

On the advice of a friend, I've tried ending my day by thinking of at least five good things to be grateful for, adding something new every day.

For Thanksgiving, I've been trying to think of new things to be consciously, repeatedly grateful for.

Bees.
Chocolate (dark).
President Obama.
Jazz.

Gratitude. I recommend that whatever you direct to, cultivate it. It lowers the blood pressure, clears the mind, and prioritizes what's really important.

I am grateful to the American soldiers, marines, airmen and seamen and our allies who keep us all safe.

I appreciate the sacrifice of past generations of Americans.

And I thank a God, I don't understand.

And yes, turkeys do go to heaven.
