I thought i was totally liberal ....but i guess i am not because this is just gross to me! I am not against homosexuality per se, but i wouldnt want two dudes raising my biological child. Just gross
11:47 AM on 12/30/2010
Why is that gross???? Single men raise children all the time. Open your mind and really try to understand the "Issues" YOU have with this. And I gurantee you, you will not be able to find one legitimate reason why this is gross.

BTW you're not totally liberal.

Curchel said 'her biological child'.
She is exercising her maternal instincts.
Nothing wrong with that, more women should.

And yes, it's gross.
12:39 AM on 12/31/2010
Well, then don't allow yourself to become a surrogate. Problem solved. (Now, just ask yourself this question, dearie, and see how "liberal" you really are: Instead of "two dudes" raising "your" biological child, how would you feel about another male-female couple raising "your" biological child? Or--judging by the pic by your name--a white couple raising "your" biological child?)

The headline here is just tacky. Isn't there another way HP could have stated this for those who might be interested? They also really didn't reveal anything - 'it was both of us!" so, who child is whose, as long as we are in TMI land anyway? I don't think I would have cared but couldn't get past the screaming SPERM headline.

It's easier to be happy for these guys than the older married man couple. In Elton John's case it appears more like a "vanity baby" because of his age and proclivity to get involved in social causes.

Either way, this is unprecedented, and people shouldn't be so dismissive of conservative critics. If this family arrangement becomes more common in the future, there will be big effects on society.

Once the most ambitious and controversial goals of gay groups have been achieved, perhaps they'll finally stop helping ultra-feminists who keep chipping away at straight men's rights. Probably that is too much to expect.

Probably they'll get gay marriage rights and they'll still keep helping chip away at straight men's rights. I don't blame Neil Patrick Harris for this. He's just following a course for happiness.

(I think they might as well have impregnated the surrogate mother the old-fashioned way. Is a petri-dish really necessary? I suppose it is if you want absolute clinical control of everything...)

Seriously though, if gay marriage passes, I will still oppose gay adoption of boys by male couples. In fact, I will oppose gay marriage because I'm not seeing any willingness to actually discuss the ethical principles among the hardliners.

So long as the "progressive" agenda says old-world marriages between a man and a girl is absolutely unethical, yet gay men should be able to adopt boys, we have a failure to communicate.

Why should anyone deign to engage you in a debate on the ethical merits of gay adoption when, merely by participating in such a debate, they have already surrendered a huge point: namely, that this is an ethical issue.

It is not an issue of ethics. Get over your homophobia.

"Homophobia" is now commonly conflated with being straight. All straight men are either "homophobic", or they must agree with gay men on every single disagreement gay men have with tradition, humanity, and anatomy and biology. The word has lost its meaning due to its wide usage by "angstivists".

Just face it, the sum totality of all the gay men's talking points lead inevitably towards a claim of righteous justification against the very existence of gender. It's the agenda to neutralize and abolish gender, to render it irrelevant. It's gone to the point of absurdism and no longer has anything to do with civil rights.

The debate should be about the long term morality of human society.

Should routine medical intervention of the reproductive process should be normalized?

Should all human experimentation should be rationalized no matter the long-term implications?

Should common language and legal terminology be stripped of all gender-specific terms?

Are straight men considered inherently bad?

I have a negative response for each of these questions.
12:04 AM on 12/30/2010
How exactly are straight mens rights being chiped away by giving gay people the same rights as straights? What rights have been chipped away by "ultra" feminists-whatever that means..? gay men shouldnt adopt boys? gee, I wonder what you mean by THAT? Did you know statistiscally straight people are the ones doing what it is you fear those gays will do to their adopted boys? of course not. doesnt serve your purpose. statiscally abuse of any kind is something like 2% in the gay community, virtually non-existent. You say ""Homophobia" is now commonly conflated with being straight"...uh no. just with homophobes. like you, cloaking your bigotry in "ethics", "morality", "religion" or whatever argument suits you best. But the bottom line is your heart is filled with intolorance, judgement, fear, hate and yes, homophobia.

Frankly I dont know why I even bother...you're not listening anyway.

All I'm doing is exposing the moral vacuity and speciousness of the arguments of entitlement to absolute "equality" of status and "rights", which even nature has not granted.

I'm advocating something which doesn't actually serve me directly, since there isn't any girl who is a minor whom I want to marry. What this does is reveal the absolute convictions held by feminists and gay rights activists, as lacking a firm foundation in morality. By arguing against the right I'm advocating, they reveal that they are indeed aligned against the rights of heterosexuals.

Gays and ultra-feminists have become fully resolute, believing that they are leading civilization towards what it is destined to become - fully neutered. My resistance serves society by bringing them back to the negotiating table, which they have abandoned in their zealotry.

Everyone is nosy when it comes to twins. A former friend of mine had twins and EVERYONE asked if they were "natural" or IVF. Strangers in the grocery store.

Admit you're just squicked because they're gay.

Like Elton john and his partner they will love their children and make for them a wonderful life. Still Harris creeps me out. I stopped watching his show when they turned it into a Gay musical romp.
07:12 PM on 12/29/2010
what on earth are you talking about? there are no gay characters on his show How I Met Your Mother, on which he plays a womanizer! There's nothing "gay" about that show. If you dont care for the show fine, but don't slur it by calling it "gay", it's offensive.

Maybe you are referring to Glee (which did feature NPH once), which IS a gay musical romp.

Incidentally, I don´t watch NPH's show, and I have zero interest to.
