It's a drawing.

But knowing the Chinese, they will have it built in no time. It will look exactly like it but whether or not it runs as intended is another story.

America's problem is that we are far too self-centered to have vision.

If you cannot see beyond yourself, you cannot plan for the future.

If you cannot plan for the future...you have no place in it.

There was once a time, decades before I was born, when America had vision. We built a nation, we discovered the secrets of the atom, we went to the moon...it wasn't Haliburton or KBR...it wasn't private multinational corporations seeking only profit for themselves...it was America, building a future for Americans and the world...

But to me, THAT America is as mythological as Odin.

The future is in Asia. While the US, under conservative control slips backward, the rest of the world have there eyes on the future. Don't worry there will be a place for the American people. These new cities need workers.
03:09 AM on 01/17/2011
They need "consumers" Americans can be hired to sit pretty out in the bars and restaurants to draw business in.

I can't help but wonder how filthy it will be building the eco-friendly city.

Are solar powered cars going to used to build the city? Is solar powered ANYTHING going to be used to build the city?

All of China's production is filthy: Diesel, Gas, Coal...

A spanking shiny new eco-city may be great in the long haul, but in the short run, I'd MUCH rather see clean production methods.

I admire the way they are building their future, at the same time devastated when I think that some of the same citizens have so little regard for other people's health. Their production of unsafe consumer products is truly frightening.

I think this is what your government would like you to think so you stop buying there products. The future is in Asia not the US. Your conservative thinking will allow the world move past you.

they rushed into industry with dollar bill signs in the eyes, they now see their people have no clean drinking water and they are jumping the green way faster than the other way, unlike the USA

Have any of you actually lived in China?
Slave worker is the correct term. Say something out of line and find the police dragging you out of your home.
11:12 AM on 01/16/2011
I lived in China 20 years. Slave workers? Yea, their pay is really low, but I don't think they are slaves. Police dragging you out of your home? At least I never heard my neighbors or anyone in the city were draged out by police.

Low pay is not a form of slavery? Maybe you wouldn't going to China and living under those conditions...... talk it cheap....I've been to many poor countries and its not pretty.

Are we that far off here then? Income declining instead of rising for average workers who are still lucky to have a job. Ask our youth about the police state, they wear the wrong t-shirt and get dragged out of the school buildings, our police is out of control, we have corrupt politicians who are in the pocket of corporate America and no longer work for the public... well, I don't think we are in a paradise here, there is a lot of work to be done on either sides.

Do you know the least searched terms on the internet?

Green, Eco, Organic. It's a nice idea but the majority aren't interested.

Oh, I don't know. People are coming around to it, bit by bit. It used to be hard to get organic veggies in supermarkets around here -- overpriced and halfway to compost -- but demand has increased enough that there's sufficient volume to bring prices down and freshness up.

I've been replacing my appliances and amenities as they wear out with energy and water saving ones. It's kept the power, water and gas bills down. I'd never go back to plastic grocery bags -- the cloth ones hold more, don't let the marmalade crash down on the sidewalk and are more comfortable to carry. My conservative sister did a bit of a spin last election and voted for the party that promised more wind turbines and other renewable energy sources.

u r right but little different!! America never bomb anywhere directly but use Muslim to do it for them. And the most popular American hero is OSAMA BIN LADEN, who has been used for Twin Tower

Naw, there's no oil there.

Besides, the US is no longer certain they could win a war with China, even if we ignored that they own most of our debt, and we'd have to borrow more from them to wage said war.

It should be National Capitalism at its best.

There are only two dominating governing systems in this world now: the one that have nation (the government) controlling the capital, the other the capital controls the nation.

Nationalization of major industries is one of important aspects of socialism.

It's incredible how if you just plan building projects around smart transportation you can use all that parking lot space as green parks and open areas. Some of our cities require that upwards 2/3rd of our urban space be designated to the movement and parking of vehicles. Instead we build our cities by nickeling and diming our way through everything (and rightfully so, it decreases taxes) and are stuck trying to retrofit all expansions...

"It is difficult to design space that will not attract people. What is remarkable is how often this has been accomplished" - William Whyte
