Hmm, did Bob Diamond cut his teeth working at BP. Sounds like the same self-serving verbiage when their last disaster impacted the economy!

"The reality is that banks can no longer meaningfully be called private enterprises, yet no one in the media will challenge this fiction. And pointing out in a more direct manner that banks should not be considered capitalist ventures would also penetrate the dubious defenses of their need for lavish pay. Why should government-backed businesses run hedge funds or engage in high risk trading, or for that matter, be permitted to offer lucrative products that are valuable because they allow customers to engage in questionable activities, like regulatory arbitrage or tax evasion? The sort of markets that serve a public purpose should be reasonably efficient and transparent, which implies low margins for intermediaries."

And here we are with this new call for civility, so I can't say what our response should be. But I can think it, and I can celebrate it when it finally happens.

the Mafia says they dont intend to apologize, either, and applaud the big banks for their outright crimes in public.

No the banks still need to apologize until they have repaid all of the money the government had give them to bail them out and to also repair the damage done by banks inflating housing prices for profits and bad investments , then causing the housing bubble. they also need to apologize for giving huge bonuses to bozo crook ceos and other upper management bankers/crooks.

Banks are not living entities so they can not apologize.
The people that were all a part of this debacle should apologize, divest themselves of everything they own and seek a guru.

Go see the movie Inside Job....if you can find it still playing. It was suppressed in the media. We saw it in November.
The audience stood and applauded at the end...in a movie theater! I've heard they did it in other movie theaters also.
