The provision of health care services (both fraudulent and genuine) should not involve financial incentives (unless well-being can be made more profitable than sickness).

It shouldn't be but, unfortunately, that's the way it is and will continue to be. Under new Medicare rules, ACO's will earn more if they spend less on patient care. There will definitely be financial incentives to opt for cheaper treatments. The same is true in prescription plans. If you take the generic form of a drug, the pharmacy often makes more money because the drug costs them less

The AG needs to have a "raid" on the WH to get the evidence of how the WH Chief of Staff got billions to bailout his buddies at JP Morgan Chase! Of how the WH Jobs Czar/CEO of Enron, oh, excuse me GE got over $200B for GE and his buddies? Of how the WH Chairman of the Council of Economic Advisors and the US Treasury Department's Chief of Staff getting billions for their buddies at Goldman Sucks?

That's good. If they scammed us...go get 'em.

And NOW its time to go after all those crooked bankers. Publicise it. Show the world what they did. Make them pay and make them feel it.

If they're allowed to sneak out of this mess, without being appropriately punished for what they did, then we're in mighty deep trouble as a Country.

So, where are the trolls complaining that Obama is not doing his job? Finally, the government is deporting many more illegals than Bush ever did, and now they are really going after the chiselers who have been ripping the taxpayers off with Medicare fraud. Now, if they would just go after the crooks on Wall Street.

Why Isn't Wall Street in Jail?
Financial crooks brought down the world's economy — but the feds are doing more to protect them than to prosecute them

Indeed. The revolving door shows DEMS on one side, REPUB on the other. But the players are the same. Bush's Sec Treas Paulson who threatened Congress with Martial Law to get the first "Too Big To Fail" going was CEO of Goldman Sacks.

The reason this keeps happening is that health care in this country currently runs on fee-for-service.

That gives doctors & nurses the incentive to rip you off & to rip off the government as well.

They're only getting charged because they ripped-off the government. Think about how much they're ripping off people who are NOT on Medicare!

What percentage of those criminal MD's got (bought) their degrees and licenses in some foreign country?
06:55 PM on 02/17/2011
because americans never do anything illegal?
don't make me laugh. this is about fraud. pure and simple. recoup losses, indict and imprison, and then fine the beejeebus out of them. then see if anyone does it again.
oh wait, I forgot, we live in america. so the ruling class and their ilk walk away with a token fine, amounting to a small percentage of what they stole from america. my bad. I thought we lived in a country with a rule of law, and not the rule of money, which is how this country really runs.

06:56 PM on 02/17/2011
seconded, thirded, and fourthed (ya I know, the sp)
but let's get a little justice and recoup taxpayer losses, indict and imprison, and then fine them into oblivion. then see if any of these fraudsters or their ilk try it again. it would also send a message to all these people that you can't rip us off anymore.

It just goes to show more doctors are in the game for the money instead of the noble reason; to help people. This is but one of the many reasons insurance and health care costs are so high. Invest more money into investigations such as this and the amount of money we save in the long run will be more than what we spend in the short term.

There are few people as greedy as a doctor.
07:04 PM on 02/17/2011
well said.
nailed it.
everyone knows doctors do no good. and they also rob trillions from taxpayers. with all their oil and other subsidies. and then they serve as middle men to rip off billions and billions. and they also work on wall street to steal trillions from america.
well said. there really are few people as greedy as doctors. let's get rid of them. even before the insurance parasites, even before the wall street banksters, even before the corrupt politicians.
we get rid of doctors and all our troubles will be solved.
once again, well said.
07:01 PM on 02/17/2011
111? and those are the numbers you use to generalize intent of "MOST" doctors.
you people are a joke.
and somehow you people fight against justice for all. now why is that?
these people, ie. the 111, are frauds and con artists. just like the insurance companies.
recoup taxpayer losses, indict and imprison, and then fine them into oblivion. that's justice.
send a message to all their kind that we're watching. and they can NOT rip off taxpayers.

instead of generalizing about doctors, why not do some research.
and yes I used the phrase "you people" to generalize about you. normally I shouldn't have to explain these things, but some people need it spelled out:
if I generalize about you, without even knowing who you are, then how does that feel?
now imagine how most doctors feel that people like you generalize about you. do onto others ... genius.

What's the matter, Doc, hit a nerve? It's articles such as this that shows the pervasive nature of fraud in the medical industry. 111 were indeed caught; this time. There are, literally, hundreds more of examples such as this across the internet. At least we agree on what to do with them when they're caught though do spare us on the generalization speeches. The medical indsutry is rife with corruption on all levels. The fact that 15+% of the U.S. economy is making money off of sick people says a lot more than I ever could about this, literally, blood sucking profession.
