Egalité Fraternité Fiscalité ! - Les Inconnus

Living in Granada, Spain, not too far from Alicante (about 70 miles), I can identify with the woman in this case, but I also think it is crucial to uphold the rule of law.

But what happens when the legal system falls way short, and often?!

My position is two-fold:

(1) I condemn vigilante justice; and
(2) I would have done the same GDed thing!

Justifiable, the method might be a little extreme, but just a little.

To think that the far-right wants to call killing abortion providers justifiable in some states.

I think this is pretty darn justifiable. Now this is a true mama grizzly.

"It seems that is lawful to take the law into one's own hands and kill people in a premeditated way," Antonio Martiniz Camacho told the Telegraph.

Evidently, Camacho doesn't see the value in poetic justice.

She should have been given a pardon on Day#2

Maybe not a pardon. That would send the wrong message. However, a jury refusing to convict would have made it clear where the people stand.

With an eye for an eye punishment system, we become a nation of blind people.
Someone is now justified in killing this women because she committed a murder and she needs to be killed in return.

That is a most despicable statement.
What mercy was shown to the girl?
I daresay parents all over the world would stand shoulder to shoulder with this woman.
That is the most twisted comment on this crime- straight from a twisted mind.
It's scary, having people with this mindset loose on the streets.

Notice how it's almost always dudes who think the rule of law should be observed for child rapists.

Wow.

Not guilty is what my verdict would have been.

If it was my daughter... I know I would go to jail for life.

The truth about child molesters are that they are virtually incurable. All the relevant evidence points to that conclusion. If not a death penalty, then prison with no possibility of parole. We had a child molester in Washington State about 25 years ago that was executed and he concurred with the penalty because he told the court that he enjoyed raping boys and would do it again if he was ever let out. The compulsion is just too powerful to resist.

It's unfortunate that women have to go to these extremes to protect themselves & each other. Rape culture is a real thing. This man raped a child in 2005. Why ever was he out of jail and in a position to be set on fire in 2011?

The article said the crime happened in 1998, he was found guilty in 1995 and that is when she killed him.
She has been pardoned now.

He was found guilty 3 years before he committed the crime?

Quite some advanced justice system they have in Spain, convicting people even before they have broken the law.

Thanks for the clarification, jusathot. I'm guessing you meant the crime happened in '95 and then he was found guilty in '98. I still say he shouldn't have been out of jail in 2005 and he definitely shouldn't have been near her home, which the article said he was.

"It seems that is lawful to take the law into one's own hands " says the lawyer

Looked like the rapist felt the same way when he harmed that child.

Finally a sentence that fit the crime ,

I have no sympathy for child rapists. As the victim's mother served some time, I would hope the rapist's family would move on, seeing as how the victim and her family will have a lifelong "sentence" of dealing with the rape. Child rape victims, with help and time, can heal and move forward with their lives, but there is no "full recovery" from child sex assault.

If convicted, the rapist would have served less time than her. There is no justice in the justice system, she got justice for her daughter though. Brave woman.
