I think it would be more environmentally friendly to just bury bodies in the ground; no casket, nothing. Of course, then you have erosion problems and the occasional hand or foot sticking out of the grass. It'd keep the landscapers busy though!

Wasn't this done in Pulp Fiction by Harvey Keitel?

I think turning a body into goo is yuckier than cremating it to ashes

I don't really see what the difference is. As long as someone who is certified to handle the body in that way does it, then it should be fine.

I don't know how I feel about it, but the whole "down the drain" thing is just one step too far, I think.

After teachers unions, funeral home directors make up probably the most successful lobbying groups.

I don't see mass firings of funeral directors

Roman Catholic Diocese of Columbus complains about the liquefaction process, "We don't call for the separation of a person's remains, that they should all be kept together and buried together." Guess cremation is out of the question then since most of the remains go up into the air.
Wish folks really understood what they are talking about.
09:29 PM on 03/23/2011
Well, cremation has only been allowed by the Catholic Church in recent history, and it is still frowned upon for the most part and there are a lot of different guidelines surrounding cremation in the Catholic Church, so it's not like there's this lack of understanding of what they are talking about.
