Don't underestimate them.  As a ticket,  it looks formidable.   A lot of white southerners now live in the north.

"A lot of white southerners now live in the north."

Sorry, but you're gonna have to put some facts/statistics behind that statement. Enough people to turn a blue state red? Enough to deliver electoral votes? Don't think so.

The sight of Barbour scares minorities. And if he's as brilliant a strategist as everyone claims then he would put a northerner on the ticket.

After WWII many people moved north out of the south... and not just African Americans.  I don't have an ax to grind about it.  Maybe it's just where i live, in the Pacific northwest that it's so glaringly obvious that lots of them live "out in the county" and haven't changed their cultural touchstones in two generations.  They call themselves "tea party" now.

You make a lot of sense in with your last comment.  It's just that i saw Ronald Reagan go from a know-nothing B movie actor to a know-nothing President.  I have seen them do some astonishing things by appealing to the worst in Americans.

Huck claims that Barbour would be "an amazingly strong" presidential candidate because of his fundraising skills and national contacts." But he forgot one thing- people have to pull the lever to vote for him. Just a messy little detail there.

Barbour the most brilliant political strategist of all-time, bar none? Really? Let's consider the source. Former governor of a state that ranks 49th, just one step above Mississippi. Makes me want to disavow my southern birth certificate.
