In the SEC? No way? They don't put up with those types of shenanigans in those high quality SEC schools.

When I think SEC athletics I think integrity.
By the way, I think students should receive money from ticket sales, merchandise, and the ability to sign endorsement deals, but only after that becomes legal.

I really feel that HBO did a hack job on this story as they did not have any form of proof. Just taking the word of these players is not good enough and then the question has to be why did they wait so long to come forward with this.
Something about this does not smell right.

It's incredible to me that people believe this will remain secret in the social networking age.

It isn't much of a secret, it's that most people tend to not pay attention to it.

On McClover's claim, Real Sports reporter Andrea Kremer says in the show, "there is no documentation, receipts, letters, emails proving he got the money."

http://www.al.com/sports/index.ssf/2011/03/former_auburn_teammates_questi.html

yeah it's not really that credible at all. there's basically zero evidence of anything except he-said-he-said. not saying it didn't happen, but you can't reasonably conclude anything either way right now.
11:09 AM on 03/31/2011
I don't agree that the absence of a documentation trail for money that was not supposed to be provided undermines the credibility of the stories.

That's kind of the whole point of the cash transaction.

This is the tip of the iceberg as far as payment to college players. Personally I don't have a problem with it as much as I do with the NCAA maintaining its fraud of amateurism and not giving all players some sort of modest stipend.

Just privatize college sports, pay them to play, if they choose to go to school they do it on their on time with their own money. Corporate sponsors could fund the team of their choosing. Instead of the Auburn Tigers vs. Alabama Red Tide, the AFLAC Tigers at Auburn vs. the BP Red Tide at Tuscaloosa..
