Isn't he that guy from Kiss- the bass player?
02:03 PM on 04/11/2011
Its amazing to me that this guy here in the flesh claiming to be divine and has this many followers/believers. What matters is the remaining billions who reject such claims. Yet if we move his life back 2000 years and took away any solid proof of his existance then 67% of the world is willing to believe that he is unquestionably the son of God.

Im sure this guys life was fortold in prophesy. Im sure people believe he performs miracles. How is he any different than Jeshua besides the fact that we can prove his existance?

With 1.2 billion people in India it's not hard to trick at least some of them into believing whatever crazy story you're telling

He's a god? Looks more like an old, strung-out hippy that still smokes.
09:58 AM on 04/11/2011
Seems you have no grasp of the English Language! No one claims he's god. Notice the inverted commas. We Hindus believe that he is our medium to the Supreme. Even if you do not agree with our beliefs, please excercise some respect!
01:11 PM on 04/11/2011
I will respect the aspects of religion I deem worthy of respect. A belief in a set of principles? A worthy endeavor to say the least. But belief that any man is deserving of being placed on some messianic pedestal? Sorry but it's utterly absurd. And this doesn't just apply to mr. Baba, I rip the pope a new one on a regular basis.
01:27 PM on 04/11/2011
Don't say we Hindu, I am also a Hindu and I don't consider him to be my medium to god.

My parents are devotees of sai baba while i am not. However, i respect him immensly as a social worker. He has built many educational institutes, super speciality hospitals and even a 600 km water network to bring water to the dryest of India's regions.

Yes, he has been controversial and the 2 issues - escaping thru the backalley in an assasination bid and charges of abuses has lessened my level of respect for him from Spiritual leader to social worker.

May the institutes that he set up flourish after his times as well. Millions of people benefit from them.

Not to be callous- maybe it's time to stop increasing the population on this small planet. Just saying

your point for the population gets amiss here - I am also a person who respects him not for his spirituality but for his service to the society - the western world has looted, plundered, marginalized the natives and made them poor for their own self serving deeds - we Indians & Hindus in specific do not go in for crusades, genocides, inquisitions and wiping out native american indians for survival and hence our population is a sound healthy one. Its time the other side (west) starts to reduce its consumption and destruction of earth & its fragile eco system for its self serving needs. Live and Let Live - this is Hindu philosophy and no babas are required to understand this.

Dont be so condescending guys...because people are different (or have different beliefs) doesnt mean they are deficient.....Jeremiah Wright.

If you have nothing good to say, stay silent...your idiotic comments are funny but insensitive and show your intolerance to other faith, people and way of life.

"If you have nothing good to say, stay silent..." (ie, idiotic comments) you might take your own advice...just sayin'

Everyone has the right to voice their opinions and I for one think this is the appropriate forum to do so...at the company picnic or family reunion, not so much.
10:00 AM on 04/11/2011
Yes u have a right to your opinion. But u do not have a right to disparage another's beliefs. Disagreement is democracy, but disrespectful comments have no place in this discourse.

So what aspect of pulling trinkets from one's hair do you find divine, and how does this add to the overall truth of the Vedas as they relate to your life?

I'm no Vedic scholar, but I'm not aquainted with the section of the 'gita where it extolls the virtue of trinket producers, nor the follow up commentary of say Samkara where this practice is advocated as a means of enlightenment.

Then again, I only really have touched the surface of Yoga and Advaita, so perhaps one of the other Darshanas can be of more service in this regard.

God would never abuse a child. This guy is gross - if you can't tell by looking at this pictures, read this:

http://www.iheu.org/node/1305

"UNESCO WITHDRAWS FROM CONFERENCE
Paris, September 15 - UNESCO has decided it will no longer sponsor nor take part in a conference it had been due to co-organize with the Institute of Sathya Sai Education...

UNESCO’s withdrawal was prompted by several factors... the Organization is deeply concerned about widely-reported allegations of sexual abuse involving youths and children that have been levelled at the leader of the movement in question, Sathya Sai Baba. Whilst it is not for UNESCO to pronounce itself in this regard, the Organization restates its firm moral and practical commitment to combating the sexual exploitation of children, in application of the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child, which requires States to protect children from all forms of sexual exploitation and violence."
