Just the FACTS, Por Favor!
10:26 PM on 05/12/2011
That was a fake outrage about the TSA. that was done because the GOP wants to Privitize it. You can always tell when the GOP wants to get rid of something for political reasons. they start to villainize it. that's their modus operandusl.

sezz who? Many independent security experts were complaining about the TSA and their methods since they were created. And thats just for worthless security and untrained people.

The traveling public has been complaining too. Seizure of laptop data and smart phone data the list goes on and on. Trying to blame the backlash on the GOP is ludicrous.

Just the FACTS, Por Favor!

Let's see Michael Chertoff's company has new machines to sell to the TSA through his new comnpany that is the loudest voice to "Privitize" the TSA. This is a rerun of the old GOP movie.l First villainize something, get the public in a tizzy and vote to take that thing away while making a fomer GOPer wealthy! Pay attention.

When the GOP starts complaining about something - the next step is to get rid of it. Cases in point - sent video guy James O'keefe to get footage of ACORN - next thing you know - NO ACORN.

Sent James O'Keefe to get film footage of Planned Parenthood - next thing you know, GOP defunding Planned Parenthood - accross the NATIO.

Now take a look at why all of a sudden the same TSA that has been in place for 8 years and has been scanning for 8 years is all of a sudden a problem. A. They are government workers and we know how the GOP hates Gov workers and B. They have buddies lined up to make a fortune off the privitization of the TSA.

Come on - you have to see through the GOP - the rest of us do!

People really believe these machines stop anything?

They are great accumulators of naked scans of the human population....

Unfortunately, we have to take strict steps in order to protect ourselves and our country, (even more so since 5/1). The alternative to scanner is a pat down, you will complain with that as well, however, as I said earlier, its unfortunate that we have to be so protective but thats just the way it is, suck it up. It's a matter of "Life or Death" We all agree that we need and want strong security and yet, you dont want to implement the measures needed to bring about the changes that could prevent devastation. All for vanity.

Locks are for honest people, just as the scanners are. Many tests have been made by people passing guns and explosives past these scanner/exam points showing they are useless. The real result is Americans giving up their freedoms for the capital gains of corporations.

Good. How ridiculous does this 1984 Orwellian police state have to get? Babies getting patted down? If that doesn't say "Osama won" then I don't know what does.

Personally, If there was an airline that only used metal detectors and x-ray baggage (a la 9/10) I'd fly it exclusively. Not sure why people are so comfortable getting groped and stripped so they can get on a plane.

They haven't stopped anything. Maybe they should have put that 1 billion into buying alarm clocks for the air traffic controllers - bigger threat.

I have a problem and it is not with the scanners.. I like the scanners as I walk through and I am done. I set the buzzer off every time I travel because of metal in my body and I have to be frisked.. not so pleasant but I know it is necessary... These jokers that complain... frisk them

Exactly what I thought...... first time for everything. Whether for budgetary reasons or privacy I don't care, the things have been proven not to be effective anyway. So waste of money and intrusive for no benefit.

Have you noticed that in spite of the billions spent on scanners, metal detectors, and other silly gadgets, airport "security" has not ever intercepted a single potential terrorist. No, not one. Ever. Actually, observant passengers have done far more in averting airborne disasters as in the cases of the "shoe" bomber and the "underwear" bomber. So called airport security has proven to be the biggest waste of time and money in the entire history of air travel. Or have you failed to notice?

So this means they want to increase pat downs, that are even more intimidating then a scan, no surprise there, intimidation is a Republican mainstay, but I hate to break it to them, this move is likely to force the Republicant's to increase man power for all the extra feel ups. So I guess that will either mean JOBS JOBS JOBS or as the Republican'ts would have it the existing TSA reps hands will go numb before they increase man power.

I can't stand people. The idjits that are freaked out about current airport security are the same people that cried up a storm about lack of airport security after 9/11. If you don't like pat downs and scanners then don't fly;it's as simple as that! The saddest thing is none of you have any alternatives...other then,"get rid of it!." f,ing pathetic.

There have been plenty of common sense alternative posted under numerous posts about this subject. Trained explosive sniffing dogs and behavioral profiling would be both more effective and legal. Furthermore this is not a partisan issue as both parties are responsibly for creating this insane boondoogle x-ray/pat down process. The Bush administration conceived it and the Obama administration implemented it.

why are people so sure there arent dogs or behavioral people? is it a know fact?

I see these machines as little more than political theater designed to make us think something is being done to protect us. It kills me, though, that all the other intrusions into our privacy are OK - phone taps, reading emails, etc - so long as there is no chance for someone to see a photo of our junk.

Collectively we're both cowards and prudes.

TSA cannot win. If they cannot scan they have topaz down. If they pat down everyone howls. It's ridiculous. I have been through both -- many times. The scanner is quick and painless and no one touches those of acute sensitivities. You stand still for a few seconds and then yo are done. If have two artificial hips. I get patted down EVERY time. So the scanner is a pleasant surprise for me. They see the hips. They don't see anything else of interest (joke intended) and I am on my way.
