The more our neighbors see us as part of their community, the faster these numbers will go our way. We need to be out and proud wherever we can. The more we are seen as "the nice ladies living across the street with the nice garden and the cute kids" or "those nice gentlemen who helped me shovel snow off my sidewalk" , the sooner this battle will be history.

True, although Queer kids with colored hair and facial piercings are no less entitled to human rights than nice ladies and gentlemen.

It is only a non-issue if you have all of your equal rights. Otherwise, it's kinda important.

I doubt that it's as simple as spelling. It doesn't know the difference between conjunctions and adverbs.

Basing marriage solely on the equipment in your shorts is really dumb. But that's basically what the definers of conventional marriage are doing. Better to base the definition of marriage on love and commitment first and then let each couple sort out the equipment at their earliest and most frequent convenience.

America,the brave,still fears what we don't know

I can see the light at the end of the tunnel. Step by oft times painful step, we gay Americans are moving towards equality under the law. I pray that one day soon I will be able to marry my life partner without having to move to one of the handful of states that would recognize our union.

The campaign for Prop. 8 was shrill and hysterical. It was a machine out of control. The lesson here is that we can not allow hysterical religious groups control elections. We need to re-consider the tax exempt status of political action groups that claim to be religious organizations.

Yeah, people forget that Prop 8 was failing badly in early September, opponents got complacent and focused on electing the President, while proponents got a late surge of cash from Utah and other States and put a lot of energy into the campaign, knowing Obama had the GOP ticket beat in CA.

The other factor was that the logic of the Proposition was confusing (intentionally, in my view) in that one had to vote "No" if you wanted Marriage Equality and "Yes" if you didn't. If the question was put to a referendum again, Marriage Equality would pass.

And of course it may be moot if the DOMA case proceeds or Judge Walker's decision is upheld.

Jim Daly, the president and CEO of Focus on the Family, which funds attacks against marriage equality across the country, concedes in a new interview that his side has “probably lost” on the issue.

http://www.alternet.org/newsandviews/article/595167/focus_on_the_family_ceo_admits%3A_%22we%27re_losing%22_on_gay_marriage/

Of course, Mr. Daly will continue to raise funds on this issue ad infinitum.

Our gay marriage is wonderful. We proudly wear our rings as a symbol of our bond that will never be broken. Personally I know of not one single gay divorce and I don't expect that I ever will.

But the real question is, how many of the majority care enough to show up and use their vote to stop the hate? Remember, less than 4% of Americans vote in GOP primaries where the purveyors of hate birth their evangelists who seek to divide us. If you care about civil rights and equality, you need to stand up, be heard, and actually vote. Especially now that the GOP is doing everything they can at the state level to make it harder for people to vote.

Because I love my neighbor, as Jesus asks of us, I love my Gay, Lesbian, bi-sexual, and trans gender brothers & sisters in Christ, and I refuse to approve of anything like a gay marriage that would encourage them to sin. This has nothing to do with equality or civil rights. There is no civil right to commit perverted sex acts, and there is no human law prohibiting it. But those who love and respect their neighbor must do what we can to prevent them from being sinners.

I always Vote, and I always stand up for Civil Rights and Equality. I always vote against sin and anything which could cause a person to go to hell. We need to vote for the Right of every child to be born, and live. There is no more imporatnt Civil Right than the right not to be Murdered, even by your own mother. Satan is campaigning hard for sin, we have to work twice as hard to prevent it.

So how do you figure you are entitled to judge my sex life when I don't believe in your god or your devil?

How do you know the god you worship is the right one?

Marriage and sex are not the same thing.

If you vote against civil rights, then you don't get to say that you "always stand up for Civil Rights and Equality."
