It seems appropriate that this Orwellian bill is to be signed by a robot tomorrow morning while the President is out of the country.

VETO it Barack!!! ...and declare how it's been going too far for far too long! We need change- remember that?

Not gonna happen.

Obama may have opposed it back when Bush ran the game but he's on board with it now.

wow most of Congress sucks
10:38 PM on 05/26/2011
Yes, they do suck! And so does this B.S. extension of this so-called "Patriot Act". It should be called something, anything but that. Our Forefathers must be rolling in their graves. F/F.

The patriots in the Senate who voted against the law are:
Baucus (D-MT)
Begich (D-AK)
Brown (D-OH)
Harkin (D-IA)
Lautenberg (D-NJ)
Lee (R-UT)
Merkley (D-OR)
Murray (D-WA)
Paul (R-KY)
Sanders (I-VT)
Tester (D-MT)
Udall (D-NM)

Wyden and Udall both caved and voted for the law.

I have one newly elected Tea Party Senator, he voted "NO"
I have one old guard Republican Senator, he voted "YES"
I have a Democrat Congressman, he voted "YES"

My conclusion: We need more Tea Party and Libertarian candidates.
09:54 PM on 05/26/2011
Based on one, single issue? That's the problem with you Tea Party people. You base everything on what can fit on a bumper sticker. Because that's your attention spans. A critical thinker would disagree/agree with a little something from every political group. You guys are nothing more than a fundamentalist version of the republican party, with less tact.

HA! Laughing at you! As a liberal Democrat, how many things have you given Obama a pass on? Will you vote for him again or stand on your principles? I'm done giving them a pass.

Roving wiretaps especially. Anyone is vulnerable to them and the authorites can just do it even with just a suspicion. This is America? Well yes, it is now.

We live in a world of disposable cell phones and we need the adjustments in our laws in order to monitor them when needed.

Still needs a court order to get it done, though. That part never changed.

Sorry - in today's environment, a vote for 3rd party candidate instead of Obama will help the Repubs.
Being disappointed in the results so far is dismissing one of the nastiest Congress that we have witnessed - from not approving judicial nominations to out right lies about his policies to dismissing the stimulus in public and touting it in their local districts, the repubs have done a good job at thwarting his policies and plans.
Stop electing moderate Dems- so-called Blue Dogs and give him a majority in Congress and I expect a lot more progressive policies.

Weigh the alternative - none of the current repub contenders are viable candidates - they have demonstrated that they will dismiss science as fantasy, put religion before country and pitch policies like supply-side economics as viable options
We've already tried those strategies and they have been proven to create the opposite effect of their stated goals.
I enjoy watching the repub contenders - each one gets a spot on the #moremoneythanbrains tour and that's the problem with republican policies.

I could not vote for a republican but I could choose not to vote. I do not like Jim Messina, Obama's campaign manager at all, this choice speaks volumes to me. Before Obama ran I voted for Ralph Nader for years. I wish there was a mental heath evaluation requirement to run for any office, hopefully to include the number of active neurotransmitters, especially republicans. Having imaginary friends should be an immediate disqualification.

If Obama signs this extension to the Patriot Act, then he and EVERY member of Congress who votes in its favor must be voted out of office next November.
