If you look closely enough, you'll see the words "Even in a booming economy, no employer will hire me" in that ridiculous neck tattoo.

I'm sure their legal status has been checked, Stanton. Also, it's "she's," not "she." Could you please learn how to speak English?

There is likely no reason to check their citizenship. Your suggestion to do as much gives evidence to the great chasm between truth and talking. What you have suggested is the equivalent of "they all look alike" repackaged for the 21st century. It's amateurish, inappropriate and inaccurate. I will leave it to others to determine the root cause of your ignorance.

Quite frankly the guy is obviously American by birth. He likely has no desire or inclination to live anywhere in or near Mexico. There are deeply embedded Latino roots here in America, you know? No, you don't know that.

How many languages do you speak? Are you this ignorant in all of them?

Public opinions fuels court cases. Even though DA's etc say it doesn't, it does. And so do looks. This man "looks the part" and no jury member can look past those neck tattoos and the parole violations. The public has made up their minds before a shred of evidence has been presented in the case... and so will a jury the moment they see his tatts and record. His daughter is the most important part of this story. She is more important than if he was actually truthfully innocent.
06:08 AM on 06/05/2011
He chose to make himself "look" the part. He also chose to violate his parole.

So sad that the girl. did not want her dad to grow hair to lose his banger image.

The most important part of the story is the guy who was beat into a coma by a shaved-head thug at Chavez Ravine and dispensing justice on the responsible individuals. The daughter of some neck-tatted guy is not most important. There has to be a deterrent to this type of behavior.

I'm not sure if you read my post. I said that this man's looks and parole violation do not help his case. Because of that it will make him look more guilty. As a lawyer, you have to drag out the kid at that point.

Wrong. It happens every day in LA. Tattoos and grizzled countenances are par for the course in many a courtroom wherein hardened criminals are acquitted DAILY. Your assumptions sound like an episode of L

"Currently, Giovanni Ramirez is being held in jail on charges that he violated his parole with possession of an assault weapon..."

Rather or not he assaulted Mr. Stow, he certainly was caught red-handed violating his parole by being in possession of an ASSAULT WEAPON.

Regardless, this is not a good person. Back to prison he should go. If he is the one who beat up Mr. Stow, then add the charges on after he's already been put away.

It's funny how a person who allegedly had a an assault weapon is lampooned even though the same individuals cry out loudly for legalization of assault weapons.

Javajava, your words echo my thoughts. Both Dodger stadium and Candlestick (and now Pacbell) can be very inhospitable places if you wear the wrong colors. My Dodger cap was stolen and a beer was poured over my head at Candlestick, and I felt lucky that it stopped there; but I've also almost been jumped at Chavez and I'm a Dodger fan! Some people at Dodger games are not baseball fans, just thugs out looking for trouble. We need to decriminalize weed so we have room in prison for animals like whoever attacked Bryan Stow. The money we make in tax revenue can be used to create leaders and educators who can enlighten the vicious, violent, at-risk youth.

Most of you here who are denigrating this young person have no decency. You don't know anything specific but what you get in news headlines What ever happened to Innocent until proven guilty. So many of you here have already convicted him and have accused the child of lying. Maybe you should all look in the mirror and give a close look. You may not like what you see! You only see your ethno centrism!
02:57 AM on 06/05/2011
Ethnicity is totally inconsequential here except to say that the accused attacker is invariably connected to one of the most powerful gangs in the world — nearly all noteworthy Latino gangs in Los Angeles are.

Like it or not, this family has essentially pimped out this young girl. Unfortunately she already gives clues to her inculcation to gang/family lifestyles. She has already accepted a certain level of violence and anti-social norming. That's tragic.

Regarding the case, one has to wonder unless this girl is a Dodger fan, why would she have any idea about opening day?

Ethnicity is a useless detail for most decent people in this case since any person of any race and/or ethnicity can understand the vicious, wanton brutality exhibited by the animals who attacked Bryan Stow.

Ramirez is afforded a fair trial as an American citizen. I hope he gets one. I hope we get justice. If he turns out to be innocent, I hope his family gets the assistance they obviously need. I hope he can turn his life around.

Ethnicity is very much a part of what happens in the u.s. as far who gets indicted and have is in the penal system. Blacks and Latinos are incarcerated at twice the amount that anglos do here in the u.s. It is not because they are twice as bad; it is that law enforcement already has a preconceived notion as to who the bad guy is, in their ethno centric mind, period. Until justice is balanced and fair, this will continue to happen and many in the minority communities will continue to believe they are treated unfairly. And rightfully so!

What I read said "He's my dad and I love him." Hardly a defense. Sure it affects her, but if this is important to him he ought to rethink his lifestyle.

I am not a Dodger or Giant fan; that said, I feel it is totally correct and the right thing to do. And that is that the child definitely state to law enforcement what she believes to be correct. Nothing sleazy about a child doing what she or he can do to protect their parents, especially, if she feels this is the whole truth and nothing but the truth!

I have so resisted commenting on this story because as a Giants fan, lifelong, the enmity between the two cities and fans I have witnessed often. Back at the "Stick" nightgames against the Dodgers could be brutal. I know I cannot be objective.

That being said, putting your kid out as an alibi feels sleazy to me.

What's had me disgusted for years is that the press tries and convicts people long before they get to trial.

Not one poster here knows a thing about the events surrounding this beating. Yet, many are ready to convict the guy.

We are SUPPOSED to have a justice system that believes a person is innocent until PROVEN guilty through due process of law.

Due process of law does not include the gossip mongers that pose as journalists on local TV.
02:59 AM on 06/05/2011
The facts of what was written is he is convicted felon on parole and violated his parole and was arrested. That is the reason he is in jail. He has not yet been charged with the beating. But a statement like "he slept all day or took me out somewhere" is not clear as to what day it was..... it speaks to more of a generalization of what she feels her father does but not a particular day.
