Coincidentally created in one of the most over-populated countries.

I would need to see undeniable, guaranteed proof that a fella actually had this done before I'd believe him. After all, with Planned Parenthood going down, I'd be on my own.
04:01 PM on 06/08/2011
well if you would also take steps to protect yourself it would be a non issue no? Problem solved for him and you no need to wonder

How dare you pin the responsibility on the woman?
The point is: Women have always had to count on themselves for any certainty about birth control. And although it's your turn, and your GD responsibility, too, we'd be crazy to believe you.

Hey, it takes two to tango, buddy. You have just as much responsibility to protect against unwanted pregnancies, not just the little woman.

Male birth control ? Just play a tape of Sarah Paylins voice. That should end any attempt at getting some.

As required by law, this drug(like all other drugs) will need to under go strict testing before it gets approved by the FDA, although there are some ex-market trials(the article mentions trials in India) which can be used to historical controls. The FDA approval process will take upwards of a decade, and require strict safety evaluations(in the form of both phase 2 and 3 clinical trials) which could ultimately derail any approval. Furthermore, it is unlikely that this NME(what it will be considered if any pharmacuetical company decides to seek FDA approval) will be granted orphan drug status(meaning that under 200,000 people in the US suffer from this condition), since other contraceptives like the infamous "Mifeprex" oral contraceptive was passed in 2000. So, this drug wont be on the market for atleast a decade, even if it gets picked up by a pharmaceutical company. Just saying....

Wondering if we can create a law that men have to have this injection is they are dead beat dads. Hey, if men can create laws that women can't have abortions, women should be able to create laws that say men can't have more kids.

An injection that can last 10-15 years with 100% effectiveness--sure seems a heckuva lot better than condoms if you don't want to shut the repro door completely--this option can't come too soon! Laura http://livetruebooks.com

Vas plugs have been tried before many times in the past century, almost always have install pain, and fail a lot more than reported due to movement. Women's tube plugs work a lot better, but also with install issues, with rare increases in endometriosis.

As a male I have never encountered it as a problem. If a woman is not on birth control she always says up front. I also always ask as well as use protection. Best bet it more than one back up plan.

No. I am not confusing this with the false issue over long-form birth certificates for a certain black person who shall remain nameless.
The anti-choice crowd claims to be "pro-life" but in reality they are only pro-birth. They care not one iota about the child after it has left the womb.
And many of those same people support the death penalty which is hardly "pro-life".

But thank you for noticing that! :-)

I think it would be a step in the right direction towards the lowering of unwanted pregnancies though. This will be the first time that men actually have a say in their own reproductive capacities. Can't wait, and sign me up!
