It is time to ban train travel until they find out what went wrong and how to fix it so it doesn't happen again just like the oil spill.

You must work for an airline because you can't be serious. I know you are pulling our chain but, in case you are not, the truck driver hit the train not vice versa.

What a lovely post, so nice for the familes of the dead to read. You should stick to the crayolas and a coloring book since you can't figure out the lines of decency yourself.

Something was causing driver inattention because that is level, wide open country where you could see a train coming for miles. He slammed on this brakes only 320 feet from the impact point; when you think about it, that is only the length of one football field. The driver's eyeballs were definitely elsewhere than on the road ahead.

Clearly he was distracted.... I tell ya, texting and iphone madness in drivers is rapidly become my worst fear on the road. One week I counted four incidents of people running lights while texting. Blatant stuff. And the fine here in CA is fifty bucks. But they'll hit you with a $321 fine for the harmless act of abusing the carpool lane. Texting should be as big a fine as drunk driving.
