"It's as if we all lost a child," that is true society and humanity has lost out on what this child had to offer for this world. prayers and peace to the family and community.

This story really touched me. No child deserves anything as gruesome as what was done to Leiby. That man is a monster... What's puzzling me is how the man managed to lure the boy away. He said he killed him after seeing missing posters of him, which meant he probably had him alive somewhere. There seems to be a lot more to the story than what's in the news.

There's no place in my brain that can understand this kind of horror toward a child. It is a merciless crime. Put this monster out of everyone's misery by "putting him down" like we would any other dangerous animal. But that will never happen and like the streets of Gotham, the crazies run rampant and free. R.I.P. little Kletzky.

This is OUTRAGEOUS ! Our children are not safe anywhere. What did this little boy do to anyone to deserve what happened to him? 8 years old, life still a mystery to him, things to learn, to find out about life. Sadly he found out the ugly part of life. If we can't protect our children then who can?
I can remember when I was 8 years old and the thought of some "monster" wanting to do me harm never crossed my mind. Sure we were told never to talk to strangers or get in cars of people we didn't know. Back then you could walk almost any where with out fear because adults watched over you even if your parents weren't around and yes they would protect you as one of their own. Now it seems to be open season on children. What have we become when our children aren't safe? A mother doesn't report her baby missing for 31 days then the little girl is found murdered and tossed in the swamp (Caylee), now this. If there is a heaven, and I hope there is, may he find happiness there because he sure didn't get a chance at it here on earth.

This tragedy demands that this animal be executed ASAP. My heart mourns for this boy and his family.

Lord, please comfort this family and give them peace as they attempt to go on with their lives without their beloved son.

Maybe it would have been a better idea for your 'Lord' not letting this happen in the first place.

Why is it that some people think that God controls what people do? He gives us free-will choice; He does not make choices for us and will allow us to do whatever we want to do. However, there are consequences for our actions and He makes that clear in His Word. We, by our own actions, determine whether we receive rewards or punishments. I cannot speak for God since He has already spoken for Himself through His Word. I simply choose to live by His Word.

That poor little innocent lamb: All he wanted was for someone to help him find his way. That's all. As a kid, once in a while I would ride my bike too far and get lost but no one ever tried to harm me, only help me get home. I was just as trusting as this little boy but I grew up in simpler times, in the early 1960s. As for that murdering savage, he can't possibly get off with an insanity defense when it's clear he tried to conceal his actions. He's a wicked, cowardly, evil barbarian. To little Leiby: I'm so sorry, baby. You're a good boy and you did nothing wrong. My deepest condolences to the family, friends, and community.

I grew up many years before you, and I can remember it was safe to be a child of 8. Like you said it was a simpler time. People watched the children, all children theirs or yours.

Sorry I can't remember any such time. I grew up in the '50s. There was a little boy, my age, and I believe his name was Bobby Greenlease. His family was wealthy and he was kidnapped for money. His parents paid the ransom, but Bobby was murdered by the kidnappers. I recall they were Bonnie Brown Hetty and Carl Hall. They were put to death in the gas chamber. These horrors were on the Camel News Caravan, night after night.

I'm appalled at the brutality of people killing children anywhere in the world regardless of whether there is military conflict. They should all get at least life imprisonment or the death penalty. It's a shame too many people in the world, many in military and political positions get away too easily with killing children.

if you don't mind, your statement "many in the military.... get away too easily with killing children". i have to say it again, i was in the u.s. army. i find your statement offensive. for one thing you don't really know. for the second thing... ground troops never target children. that is not to say, it hasn't happened, but moreso, to ease your statement... as to making it sound, that american troops targets children. this huffposting goes worldwide and let me say to you, and all who read this.... the united states military does not go around targeting children. it is true through, that children die... and, i am deeply sorry for that.

Not one community, religous or otherwise should take blame for this mans' actions. He is not you nor you him. Do not take him to raise as he is not of your making; if you had that power this is not what you would have created. Some things are outside the realm of descent possiblities. He is a murderer end of discussion. They walk amongst us of all faiths and beliefs. See that justice is done and do not condem yourselves or place blame on anyone but him. Do not allow him to diminish you by buying into the thought that "we did something wrong" we did not out reach to him. It is not within our power to read the hearts of man. God bless his family; may a greater power deliver justice. I am not sure anything mortal man can do will sufffice,

who is sky god? do you mean God Almighty? and if you do, the killing of a child proves there is no God Almighty? if i have the wrong understanding of what you were implying i apologize. i just don't understand your "this proves there is no sky god."

No I think he meant what you said. When bad things happen, people expect GOD to swoop down like Batman and foil the evil doer. To bad that is not the way Almighty God works. He gave us his WORD, then the WORD was made FLESH. He gave us the PROPHETS, people did not listen, and they are still not listening.People still didn't believe.GOD is disgusted. We have become an immoral, unethical, dishonest society, so caught up in the things of this world,we barely give GOD a thought...unless of course something goes wrong, then we shake our fists, call him blood-thirsty and vengeful.Do you really think God cares what we think? We all need to look at ourselves and change things. GOD doesn't perform for us !

Creator God does not only exist in the sky, but everywhere, at all times. Insinuating negative personal beliefs in this type of forum is extremely insensitive for a family who believed in God.

It is indeed sad that your creator god watched while this young boy was being killed, that's what I would deem insensitive.

I fear this little boy is not the only victim of this very ill man. If he was able to do this horrific crime, and try so hard to cover it,I wonder what(or whom)other things this man has done.Sure he cooperated with police but only after he knew he had been caught.I truelly believe that this man has killed before..... My thoughts and prayers are with the family..

I felt this way too. I think Memphis police should see what children went missing near his former home. And as for the "no signs of sexual abuse" statement by the police, I can only say there aren't always visible signs. My heart aches for this young angel and Jewish or not we're all crying and praying for little Leiby and his family.
