It's true for me because I only listen to music on the radio. I find whenever I am doing housework and put on the radio I get through much faster and actually find myself enjoying it.

WOW.

Talk about a slow news cycle, I heard this on the radio a month ago.

This is hardly suprising, and beggars a reconsideration of the medium that I began working in 30 years ago, and am fortunate to be working in again. Yes, I'm shamelessy self-promoting once more but I and my partner Mark West are bringing live and local radio back to growing, penturbian Orange County, NY every weekday morning from 6-10 A.M. on 1340 AM WALL out of Middletown. We play oldies music that goes well beyond any notions of what "oldies" may be; I offer national and local news content. We're not merely nostalgic, either. We're basically trying to give people reason to listen to their AM radios again (besides hearing syndicated right-wing talkers) and also have our morning show available on a stream live and repeating at other times on wallhasitall.com.
Give us a listen!

We turned our tv off. We've had Direct TV (nonresponsive, ever-rising fees) and Dish Satellite (THE worst ever!!!) and had days where we wanted to take a ballpeen hammer to the Tv. Channels come and go once you start watching them, receivers quit mid-program, programming for the brain-dead, ten channels we wanted to watch with 3,000 channels selling useless crap!! We've gone Roku and don't regret it at all.

I no longer watch TV. I don't even have it. Folks, you can wean yoursel, or go cold turkey, but the best part of Radio is that it doesn't "run you life" the way TV does.

Tell that to the right-wing ditto heads who listen to the vile all day long and then cap it of with a Fox lineup of trash comment and misinformation.

A great truth has been revealed!!!! I am a very, very happy person, doing volunteer work as a DJ on an Internet radio station that plays deep oldies, from the 50s, 60s, and 70s. The station's called www.deepoldies.com and is on 24/7, with wonderful, live airstaff 16 hours of the day, weekdays, and great weekend live coverage as well. Everyone who listens says hearing the oldies make them happier. :)

Radio drives me insane!
I hate the ads ... there are very few stations with no ad or severely limited ads.

I don't watch TV for the same reason, but somehow radio ads are worse.

I much prefer the internet where you can more easily avoid and ignore advertising.
And if your ARE looking to buy something, you can find it right away and comparison shop.

I have definitely noticed a change in how I feel about starting work and my day since I switched from checking in on the morning TV news/infotainment shows and started putting on the local NPR station in the morning. I get the same info without the stress and hype -- and the obnoxious commercials.

I can barely watch anything but HBO anymore because I am so sick of loud, repetitive, lumps of commercials wrecking the shows.

My hands down favorite radio show: Woman's Hour on BBC Radio 4, which you can download via the inter web. Women's issues, politics, art, history, literature, music, good food, etc., etc.. It's like a thinking woman's on-air magazine. Each episode is about 45 minutes long and is perfect to listen to while doing chores or maybe just kicking back and drinking a cup of good, strong tea.

You know I really miss the "Lone Ranger" and "Sgt Preston of the Yukon" with his trusted huskie Yukon King. It was better in some ways to use your imagination like with videos. I'd sometimes rather just hear a song than have the video producer's image and translation ruin it for me. And how often does the book to movie metamorphosis hit the mark, not very often. So did video really kill the radio star? Not in my camp. Brace Beemer and Dick Simmons remain my heroes. C'mon King, this case is closed.
