Just a few days ago it was obsegens ... compounds resulting from our toxic environment ...

What I've noticed is that fat people eat a lot of food and aren't very physically active

... there may be a correlation there

"Essentially, the meaner you are, the likelier you are to gain weight as you age." NOW I know why I've gained 40 pounds in the last few years! It's not because I've stopped exercising and eating more afterall!

I must be a mean sob because I gained 45 pounds between my 30th and 50th birthday. Of course all my brothers, uncles, aunts and cousins did in the same time frame in their lives. A genetic explosion of fat.

Ever heard of the term " a gentle giant?" this study totally contradicts that, "Essentially, the meaner you are, the likelier you are to gain weight as you age." I guess Oprah is meaner than I thought!

more and more scientist believe that overeating is an "addictive" behavior--obesity is addiction! so it should be dealt as a disease not a personality problem.

What worthless drivel. Does it really take Ph.D. psychologists to do these ridiculous studies? Any 3 year old could figure out that if you lack impulse control you'll tend to eat more. I guess it keeps the academics in business though. Gotta get some devil dogs.

Funny, well this makes me more marketable. lol  I am joking folks. But eating right could be construed as conscious. It makes more sense to be conscious of what you eat and your weight to avoid costly medical illnesses, procedures and medications. Wow, this quite a statement...Essentially, the meaner you are, the likelier you are to gain weight as you age.

True or false, I am OK with this study...lol. The researchers found those who scored high on the conscientiousness scale were likely to be leaner.

That's a long time to do a study

In the first study of its kind, three researchers from the Department of Health and Human Services followed nearly 2,000 subjects over a 50-year life span.

Well, if you are in the dating pool you know now who or what to avoid hooking up with.

I found many things wrong with this article. First, it seemingly suggests that Type A personalities and impulsive personalities have qualities that make them more prone to cycles of losing and gaining weight. Perhaps I am wrong, but wouldn't Type A personalities be more prone to CONTROLLING things such as their weight, meaning they would not fluctuate as much in their weight? While I suppose it is possible to be both impulsive and have a Type A personality, the lack of control due to impulsiveness would seemingly obliterate the qualities of the traditional Type A personality---by definition.
