The republicans crashed this countries economy along with much of the rest of the worlds with their failed policies thatat they continue to push. Whai is amazing to me is the fact that there are stiil people who believe that the policy of supply side/trickle down economics works. In this face book (is that a real cat it's too small to be a real cat) society we live in today people are just plain unaware of what's going on in the world. The American people will get what they (we) desrerve for not being engaged.

#1, Cut School Fundinf and Fire the teachers for poor performance (their biased tests)
#2, Try to teach Intelligent Design(GOD made the Earth 6,000 years ago) in Science Class, denouncing The theory of Evolution(The Fossels are Fakes, Man DID NOT evolve from apes)
#3. Stop any Sex Education,(teach only Abstinence) Texas has triple the teen Pregnencies (some twice with the same girl)
#4, Because there isn't enough to buy the Intelligent Design Books Introduce a FOR PROFIT corporations to teach classes online.
#5 Change Public Schools to a Voucher System( their Kids get the best Advanced education on the Public schools dime, the poor kids get Charter Schooled, with "apporved teaching for the poor.
#6 Schools closed, No Sports, No Culture, just Religion ( When these kids go to College, their answer to any Science Class will be "What Would Jesus Do?"

Oh I am very aware of the true story about Texas. I not only have lived in Texas for 50+ years, I work for a state agency and believe me this country cannot afford Perry to president. He is THE most ruthless polititian I have ever seen. Texas does not take care of it's vulnerable citizens. That's what the agency I work for does and 70% of our funding comes from the Federal Government.

Trickle down economics does work - it's just not working for poor Americans. Look at what has happened to China, Brazil and the Asian Pacific economies over the last 30 years. That growth would was the direct result of supply side investment on the part of the US and other wealthy countries. The problem here in the US is that we've already picked all the low hanging fruit and it's much more difficult to find ways to grow our economy. Of course, all this 'growth' talk is really just a way of sweeping the ecological issues we face under the rug. In the end, we must abandon consumer capitalism for a more sustainable global infrastructure.

While Wall Street has its worst week in a year. Americans are having the worst decade in a generation.

Wall Street gets bailed out while my 401k is still in recovery from the 2000s.

Thanks President Bush.
01:05 PM on 07/30/2011
i remember the democrats wanting $700 billion to spend , just because it was a big number....remember that?
01:08 PM on 07/30/2011
Yep I sure do. Bush could've vetoed it if he had a better idea.
01:14 PM on 07/30/2011
thank the fed also. would you have so much invested in the stock market if you could get a decent return elsewhere? i look forward to seeing a return to a real interest rate that encourages prudent saving and discourages reckless borrowing. i get .05% interest on my savings account! CDs are almost as bad!
12:38 PM on 07/30/2011
anyone still invested in stocks deserves to lose their $. it's rigged and unless you're an "insider" you're going to lose, wall st's betting on it

OHHHH trust me they did bundle in the stock markets. Yet they and their hedge funds bubbies are betting that the USA will fall over the edge. The are betting against the American People as those did against the Mortgage Markets. Come on, let face it, they are making money as we all suffer. Oh, guess what? As if you did not already know. They are laughing at us as they play a round of golf. " Those Dump Fools, American Paople" That's what your elected officails say about you and me. Yet we will all sit and post our complaints and never unite as one and change the way Washington is run.

Until obama and democrats are out of office there will be no stable market. That is you, my, and everybody else's pension funds in there, and putting the unqualified in charge of this country is cutting our own throats.
12:38 PM on 07/30/2011
Yep, because republicans got it so right in the 2000s

Negotiating bad trade deals is cutting our own throats. As is cutting taxes while increasing spending.
12:44 PM on 07/30/2011
We had a choice between 2 crooks. Imagine if the one that was not elected would have been elected we would have been in the same boat we are now, sinking.
03:01 PM on 07/30/2011
So true!

Taxes should be low for everyone until there is an emergency (War, disaster, project to benefit the nation) then the taxes would have to be increased for everyone to cover the cost for the duration of the emergency. Then they would come down.

Also we shouldn't be relying on this year’s revenues to pay for this year’s expenses. How can you budget like that? We need to move to taking in revenue for next year's budget. Of course, first we have to pay off our debt ASPAP!
01:36 PM on 07/30/2011
Don't forget to add "stubborn" to that unqualified.
12:29 PM on 07/30/2011
If the stock market crashes , then the world crashes and we will still have a Black president for 4 more years . What was the point again ?
12:42 PM on 07/30/2011
The point is to blame the guy in the white house for everything that has gone wrong. Including the Republicans spending problems in the 2000s and the tea party who made this non problem (raising the debt ceiling) into an international crisis.

butter, he could be white as snow, riding a white horse and have on a white hat. He would still be the worst president that this country has seen.
12:21 PM on 07/30/2011
I would like to personally thank "just say no - Reid" and President Obama for destroying any chance of me having a halfway decent retirement. These two bozos just don't get it that the public thinks, correctly, they are totally irrelevant.

I'm retired. During the lasr Republican presidential administration, I saw my retirement savings (that is what buys my groceries) plunge by 35%. Since the change in the presidency, I have regained half my losses. I voted for "Bush the Lesser" twice, and the "Hero and Whiney-Girl " team the last time, how dumb was that? I oficially apologize to America.

The Snake Oil Promoters of the GOP are having a Hissy fit because, their back handed methods to make it impossible to EVER raise taxes on their Wealthy sponsors.
They vote to stop any Protective services that has been protecting the Real Americans . EPA, Clean Air and Water , The Endangered Species Act, The Global Warming, Women's Rights, and Science in School, then Put another huge Subsidy for big Oil.

They Pass a Bill for a Defense budget for 668 Billion Dollars on July 7 and blame the President.
They keep playing their same old story, and call the President for blocking these insane bills.

Cut, Cap and Balance is a scam to hobble any programs to help the middle class
Cuts spending, Social security, Medicare, And Medicaid, and every social program that helps Middle Class.
Caps the amount the government can spend with 15% less every year.
Balance. forces the Government to only pay for all the bills left from 10 years of war and with no new taxes.
Prince Richard: Boehner, The Sheriff or Nottingham: Cander, and the Henchmen: the Tea Panty Repubs. are again taking from the Poor and enhancing the Rich.

Republicans gathered in their political graves
12:03 PM on 07/30/2011
Among declining stocks, Chevron Corp (CVX.N), the second-largest U.S. oil company, fell 1 percent to $104.02 despite reporting a 43 percent jump in quarterly profit that beat estimates.

43% jump in profits achieved by artificially keeping gas prices so high that it further sucks away the little spending money regular Americans have left. But keep the tax cuts and loop holes so the few able to invest in those corporations will get richer.

The republican way

Oil CEOs want everyone in the world to pay the same over-inflated price. They will do what they wish because of the freedom the capitalist system allows them.
12:25 PM on 07/30/2011
The small light in your head must be turned off; hate to tell you this but gas prices are high because of emerging countries like India and growing economies such as China's. You know; China where we purchase all of their goods on the cheap, which you probably don't complain about. Also; there are speculators who are gambling on oil prices going up; I could go on but am not sure you understand any of this. To say the Republicans are promoting this is the old liberal zealot standby. By the way; you forgot to blame Bush.
12:44 PM on 07/30/2011
The declining dollar is also a factor.
