These sugar babies would probably be looking for wealthy guys to marry anyway. Just have a look at some of their ads on seekingarrangements.com if you don't believe me. I don't feel sorry for them one bit.

How many of these people just switching their normal sex act for someone who can help them. I do not know why a woman should not be allowed to sell her body if she wants to. The making it illegal is often the reason for so much crime associated with prostitution. I do not care because I feel there are bigger problems than someone trading her virtue for a few bucks. To me it is just like marriage for many but no documentation.

Economic desperation is the problem. This is just one manifestation. Certainly a sorry indicator of a degenerate society where the rich are allowed to have their way with everyone.

Virtue is an extinct concept. It hearkens back to the age when women HAD to be virgins before marriage. That was the main point of the Sexual Revolution. However, the double standard still exists in the minds of men and sadly many women. And after all these years, I'm beginning to think that it will always be that way no matter how much women rant and rave about it. You simply cannot control what a person thinks or feels in their gut. There is no law you can pass to help you with that. But what women can do is OWN whatever behavior they choose. It makes me angry when modern young women vacillate and come off not being able to make up their minds. I agree that prostitution should be decriminalized. After all, it's what so many MEN WANT: access to sex for a price, no strings attached, a simple business deal. And women who choose that option have to accept that they are not going to be able to control other people's opinions about what their choice. So just live your life and keep your nose clean in terms of not breaking any laws. But don't end up on Dr. Phil, on a pulpit, bawling your eyes out after the fact, about having made the wrong choices and then blaming men. That really ticks me off and makes me wonder if men do have a point about us being the 'weaker sex.'

There are districts in Vegas (Reno/Nevada) where prostitution is legal..this does not change things or decrease the value of a "trick". I believe there is a thrive on the excitement of something raw and something banned...legalizing it in all states will not make any difference or make a decrease in the amount of women selling their bodies. It is demoralizing for a woman to make such a choice, but it is her choice she has to live with it and tell herself and convince herself over and over that it is morally right. Her choice, her life, her money, her white lies...but in the end was it worth it? To sell your body and demean yourself to some yucky old stanger just for a few bucks to pay for college? A young girl (sugar baby) in the video with 2 sugar daddies expressed "I am enjoying my youth instead of wasting it away" because she feels she does not have to work a regular job to pay her debts...Well I have news for her..she is wasting her young body and time selling herself and selling her youth..that's not enjoyment...that's enjoyment to the men who own her and give her a few bucks for her youthful body...

i think your point was that we all have to be responsible for our own actions! men and women both :)

Interesting that they're only focusing on young women when young men also engage in this as well. Not every rich man is looking for a girl...

Yes, but men have not made an industry out of showing how they are being victimized by their own choices.

100% spot on.

And you are right about that. Men tend to own their choices. Modern women need to learn to do this also.

Morals? Its about republicans not paying their fair share of taxes and taking away student loans.
Everything they do has real life consequences. Maybe its about the morals of republicans.

There not causing this!!!!! But they sure could make an improvement by not blockiing decent student aid and with direct loans from the government instead of going through the banks.
11:43 AM on 08/03/2011
They are making the loans available to people which don't have the money to pay it back. I never had a loan, I just worked my way through school and paid as I went. That is not to say these women (men in some cases) won't do the same but at least the debt won't exist.

Need to learn debt is not the end to a means otherwise they end up just like the government by raising taxes or $1,000/hour tricks. Legalize prostitution and you drive the cost down to make it not worth it to the Sugar Babies.

This is ridiculous, our d@mn school bills are so hight we can't even reap the benefits of a higher education, even if one isn't swarmed with bills ..they can't get a job.

I don't think sugar babies is a slang word.........just sugar daddies.

I read that story and it sounded like the reporter was making some of it up. For instance, loan payments aren't due until you finish school. She stated she interviewed a 20 year old current student that had to resort to finding a sugar daddy to pay off her loans.

She hadn't even gotten the first bill!!!!

Interest is only deferred until gradution on certain Federal loans - there are plenty of other loans that are glad to bill you during school, and many kids aren't smart enough to read that fine print.

We can read just fine. What we can't do is afford a $250+ monthly loan payment while in school.

I hope this article is a wake up call folks. The GOVERNMENT needs to provide affordable education for its citizens. The GOVERNMENT is not the enemy. The enemy is a private citizen who has amassed great wealth through a Corporation that gets tax write-offs, and can act like his own mini-government, and make education affordable on a case by case basis. Thanks to HP for making these hideous stories public.

If you don't think the government provides affordable education to those in need through scholarships, grants and low interest loans, you have not personally or had a child go through the process. There is so much aid out there - much of which goes unused - it is amazing.

Our local college (private) costs about $40,000 a year to attend. The average student pays or is responsible for (including student loans) about $7.500. This figure includes students who do not qualify for aid and their yearly cost. How much more affordable should a private college education be?

There may be cases where people cannot get aid but often that is due to not qualifying (i.e., making too much money).

I don't believe you.
10:44 AM on 08/03/2011
That making too much money to qualify bar is set fairly low. By the time we finished paying college tuition and fees for three children (even with scholarships, etc) we found ourselves in the position of being able to qualify for aid. In other words, we took care of our children so they would not have student loans (they also worked throughout their four years) and now we are the poorer for it. Now OUR future is in peril.

It's the same thing.

I define "Sugar Daddy" as an older male with lots money (sugar). So "Sugar Baby" to me would be someone younger with lots of money... :-/
