He is going to handle it privately ?

Bit late for that now isn't it?

We don't want you to talk about your kids. Most of us would just prefer you shutup altogether.

OK Walsh Defenders Read the Petition filed by the Mother here:

http://www.scribd.com/doc/61214631/Petition-for-RTSC-Against-Joe-Part-1-12-7-10

Here are some facts:
Walsh entered into an AGREED ORDER to pay support of $2,134/mo. $2,049 plus $85.00 for health insurance. He was making over $121k/yr (Exhibit C)

Walsh never petitioned the Court for modification of the Order.

In 2010 Walsh loaned his campaign $35,500.(Exhibit G)

According to the Mother, Walsh made partial payments of 1,135.75 via wage attachment from November 2005 through March, 2008 and nothing after that.

I have been a divorce lawyer for more than 22 years. I don't know of a single Judge who would accept the excuse that a Payor had no money while running for an elective office and loaning his campaign $35,500. If choosing to run for office results in a loss of income, it is a voluntary reduction of income and no excuse for not paying support in a timely manner as ordered.

That's part of what she's requesting from the Court. The Judge can order an increased wage attachment against his Congressional salary.

I would like to know of a good website for going after deadbeat parents. One of my friend is a single mom and the dad was asked to pay all of $30/month which he didn't pay because he said he was unemployed. He then moved out of state and got a programming job for over $100K a year. Still no child support.

I've been trying to get my friend to go after him, but she is afraid of reprisals. She is scraping by on less than $15K a year with her kid.

We could cut a lot of our Welfare expenses if only child support went through a third party. Is there a way to put a lien on tax refunds/social security?

If she knows where he is and who employs him, she can go to her local Family Court and file for support. The Court can track him down by Social Security Number. If there is an Order in place, she should file for an increase and enforcement. There is a federal law that will intercept a tax refund or other government benefits for unpaid child support. She should file immediately since orders are retroactive to the filing date even if it takes a while to get a hearing.

Your friend will need all the luck she can get. She will need the cooperation of her state of residence and his state of residence. Pursuing a modification of the payment amount ordered to reflect his new financial situation is probably the best place to start.

If she can't afford a private attorney, she can still lien on any real property he has. He won't be able to move it without satisfying the lien. Deadbeat dads (or moms) have a variety of hoops they can jump through to avoid or delay paying what they owe, but the debt never goes away. Even after he passes, his estate owes the debt.

Best of luck to your friend. I hope she and her child get everything they have coming.

Hey Joe, the fact that you owe anything at all when you're pulling down over $175,000 a year, a salary the vast majority of us can only dream about, is enough to say you're a failure as a father. There is no excuse not to pay for your childrens' support, not with that kind of money coming in. Time to pay up, dude, not fight it in court.

I had just read a great piece in the wahington post/Bloomberg news about the rise of the TP candidate and the vetting that Cantor and company did in putting up these candidate. For a person, a father, to put himselve before his kids and in the same period of time to tell the country to put special interest before the good of the country not only speaks to Joe Walsh's thinking but to what the GOP sees as who good for the country

What else is this puke gonna say? "I'm gonna pay my kids because it's the right thing to do"? Of course he denies it! The proof is in the court documents.

Being behind in child support is Contempt of Court, thus making it a public issue. Not only do you spew rhetoric, your sense of moral obligations are twisted !
