I'm probably gaming.

This conflict is an amazingly frustrating needless scenario. South Korea is a wonderful democratic nation with amazing people and a society much like our own. In fact, those of us who are avid gamers know this area to be the 'gaming' center of the world. Its amazing that such a close nation of peoples could be so different in their political beliefs. I agree with a poster below when they say that the north just needs to 'mellow' out.

Must be the time of year where they want international money in exchange to reduce hostilities.

We already have about a dozen military bases there and nearly 30,000 troops. It's a win/win situation as it gives us a presence in Asia and it gives South Koreans a powerful ally in their threat from Kim Jong-il.

Our presence in Asia is Japan and Okinawa . But you are right it is our troops stationed abroad that keeps the peace . Some people say bring them home ,we can't afford it . One thing they don't realize is it doesn't cost any more to keep forces in Korea than it does at Ft Hood ,Texas

North Korea's version of knocking on someone's door. They want more aid and this is how they go about asking for it.

We all don't like this Government Leader's policies, but wishing someone would die is in bad taste. No one is sad that Osama bin Laden is dead, but neither was it a moment to be dancing in the streets. That was as crude as those Palestinians who danced in the streets after 9/11 occurred. Just because international politics comes across like kindergarten kids fighting over space in a sand box, perhaps we should show our leadership that we think a little more maturely than they do. How about them apples?

Nuking a country is like pouring poison into one corner of a swimming pool... borders are not natural, they are an illusion dramatized by people with walls and guns, but the sea and air do not recognize them. Americans piss their pants worrying about radiation from that power plant in Japan... then call for a billion time more radiation to be released into the upper atmosphere by bombing Korea?? violence has NEVER solved a problem in this world long term.

South Korean leaders must understand that this is NOT a provacation, it's not even a Flexing of Muscle. This is merely the North's best foot forward. They have NO capablity, nor the will to engage a multiyear conflict which would result in the lose of millions of North Koreans via stravation and cause the border to recide northward about 100 miles, thus forcing the emperor to move his palace to Kaech'on.

Kim Jong Il is very simply being paid by Rupert Murdoch to generate some news copy. He knows Americans love nothing more than getting their juice up and calling for a Republican President who will Nuke A Gook For Jesus. www.postpubco.com/anticyclops.htm
