Don't liberals advocate suicide? You know the right to die.

What an utterly moronic statement. But what else could one expect?

This man is a hero. Unfortunately, I am somewhat familiar with a family that has experienced suicide by train. A high school junior did this and it led to copycat suicides of three other kids. Hopefully the person will seek help and realize that there are other solutions to problems.

Obviously you've never spoken to anyone with clinical depression or desire of suicide. People who kill themselves do NOT have 'temporary' problems. They live with intense deep pain every waking moment, due to a vast array of possible factors.

Congrats to you for never feeling that way, but please don't pretend that suicide is caused by trivial happenings.

Why this method to die? I was listening to a program about Subway conductors in Toronto and how each and every one of them have had "jumpers" and some multiple jumpers and how they had to have therapy to deal with this issue because it happens more often then people think. Its just a really messed up way of killing yourself.

Same with throwing yourself off a building, an investor threw himself off a building Canada Square in the City of London a couple of years ago, the building is surrounded by a very popular park.

I thought that when falling from a tall building, you die before hitting the ground. I could be wrong, and it could depend on many factors.

He sure prevented a messy commute. Bravo! As for the man; maybe he'd be better off dead. Who is to say but him. It's his life. We've got to stop being liveordie cops.

It is one thing for a mentally competent person with a terminal illness to want to end their life. A mentally distraught individual making a snap decision is a completely different matter.

1 life is just as deserving to be held in dignity as another. Euthanasia is wrong. If acts are intrinsically evil, a good intention or particular cicumstances can diminish their evil, but they cannot remove it. They remain 'irremediably' evil acts per se and in themselves … Consequently, circumstances or intentions can never transform an act intrinsically evil by nature of its object [the kind of act willed] into an act 'subjectively' good or defensible as a choice.

I wonder if Mr. Goodman is a member of the Transit Workers Union. If so, and recollecting the graceful oratory of the recent subway strike, I would like to see what happens if Mayor Bloomberg, unprotected by press, police and microphones, calls Mr. Goodman a thug to his face.

Great job by the clerk but I bet he gets suspended for leaving the booth & shutting the power when he should just get a commendation instead for his heroics.
02:12 PM on 08/20/2011

Yup, its bound to happen. But then there will be public outrage and the guy will get his job back.
