Tax all churches and throw any preacher in jail if they push a single candidate

Sadly, most people wont stand up to the views of their( or any other) church, because if you do that, you're labeled an anti religion zealot. And talking ill of anyone's church is a no no. I say we lambaste the churches & their belief in sky-god's & a dead guy coming out of his death after 2000 plus years. What a joke. I would believe in Bigfoot, leprechauns, & UFO's before I believed in any of religion's nonsense. And start taxing them too. Sadly their no proof, is their proof.

Best news of the day! My prayers are being answered this year.... first the utterly corrupt Mr Corapi goes down in ignominious defeat, and THEN the utterly perverse Mr Pavoni is the next domino to fall.

I will continue to pray the Rosary for the full dignity and autonomy of women, as Mother Mary seems intent on revealing the hypocrisy of those who heartily offend her by denying women their rightful equal and full status.

I know absolutely nothing about Fr. Pavone, or abour former priest John Corapi, but I suspect that God was trying to tell us something when he arranged things so that the very first witnesses to the resurrection were women. Gospel accounts do not agree as to the number and identity of those witnesses, but all four gospel writers report it. Early Church Fathers even called Mary Magdalene "Apostle to the apostles." Yet many branches of the Church Universal still will not ordain women, or otherwise grant them "full dignity and autonomy," as you put it.

God bless you, and be assured that you do not pray alone for those things you mention.

Thank you. If the Magisterium won't recognize the full dignity and autonomy of women, why baptize us in the first place? Either men and women are fully equal - or the Magisterium should just give up the sham and acknowledge that all we are is livestock.

How much do you want to bet that his indiscretions mean that he will actually have MORE money donated as a result of this profile?

These people will do crazy things!

Honestly, I don't know. I've never been that involved in church and I don't pay attention to the tv er, evangelists. The article says he didn't take a salary. So, advertising? Travel? Food and hotel? (what happens in Vegas stays in Vegas?)

Those who donated the millions deserve to have it stolen. Glad to hear that it wasn't used to prevent abortion.

Bishops do not like priests who go off the reservation.

They cannot be controlled.  This is the result.

Just as Corapi.

Priests take a vow of obedience to the Church and its hierarchy. Just like the military, there is a chain of command. This dude has to follow it.

Or, he can follow his conscience and follow what is right.

When did Jesus prevent His disciples from exercising free will?

It wouldn't surprise me to learn that the Bishop felt that he should be getting a kickback from his successful, excardinated reverend, and called him back to punish him for the lack of charity Pavone expressed to the Amarillo diocese and it's Bishop.

The Catholic Church is all about centralized power,. This priest challenged that.  So did Martin Luther.

The hilarity of the situation is that celibate and cloistered men, who represent the privilege and fabulous wealth of the Vatican (which in turn is implicated in a vast conspiracy of the most monstrous abuses), actually believe that they have something relevant or insightful to add to the life and choices made by legally competent women.

What a joke.

As for whether or not he is a crook, who knows? I doubt that any of us here are qualified to comment or have access to the relevant information. But given the thousands of years of bloodshed, mayhem and abuse I would imagine that the church will do what it has always done - cover up and look the other way.
05:45 PM on 09/13/2011
Cover up? As in "it is a bishop of the Church who is charging Pavone in the first place" kind of cover up? It is unlikely that Pavone has done anyting immoral or illegal. It is likely that Pavone didn't comply with some request of the bishop and he is reminding Pavone who is in charge. If you read the excerpt of the complaint above, it says "...which provides Father Pavone with financial independence from all legitimate ecclesiastical oversight." And therein lies the bishops primary concern.
