One of the criticisms of President Obama is that America elected the IDEA of Obama and now has to live with the real thing.

There's those that loves him and those that hates him, but overall, he's been up to the task (as much as any mortal could be).

Those who would welcome Ms. Palin into the race are enamoured with not even the IDEA of her, but more of the NOTION of her as president. (C'mon, dude, ya gotta admit she's hawt!)

For her part, she does not really want to actually RUN the country, anyway. She's really only in love with the IDEA of running it. (All that power and attention)

Besides, her current position is far more lucrative and has better hours.

I have to disagree with the near universal opinion of Ms. Palin's attractiveness. She wears glasses to hide the fact her eyes are rather crossed. (If you go to YouTube and play her sports broadcasts, you will note this; you will also note she had trouble reading her script. I believe this could be corrected with surgery. Perhaps this would help her self-esteem, diminishing her need to believe she's been anointed by God to be a VIP on earth until the Rapture (which she believes will come in her lifetime). Convenient to not have to worry about climate change or bother one's brain about pollution or other crimes against mother earth, when one believes the world is going to end soon in any case.

Um, I'm pretty sure the crowd that thinks she's "hawt!" doesn't pay that much attention to which way her eyes are pointing.

Well observed, though.

I happen to like Republican women with slightly crossed eyes. It imparts the impression that they are paying attention to what they are doing.

Palin is irrelevant. The war, the economy, unemployment, the threat of Gvt shutdown, flood, fire and hurricane damage have given US citizens a blinding glimpse of reality. One thing they know is that a Government that is NOT working together is NOT working out.

Hello. Is anybody home?
Is this your viewpoint or have you read a paper lately?
After the book that's out on her, she's lucky Fox News keeps her on
as a commentator.
If you can't understand the New York Times, or the Wall Street Journal,
then get a copy of the Enquirer's issue this month. They seldom get
sued for the word on the street is her husband's ready to dump her, too.
Once the Teas read about her past - ta ta.

Hey Kreskin (did I just age myself?), since she herself has not yet stated whether she's running or not, that means she may. And it also means that you and I are both entitled to opinions, in the absence of fact.

Andy-
I haven't heard about Kreskin in a long time, and have often wondered what he was up to.
He's been on Jimmy Fallon 3x

==from=wiki===
One of his best known tricks is finding his check for a performance, which he instructs the audience to hide while he is escorted off stage and into seclusion by other members of the audience.
While finding the check on most occasions, he has failed to find the check nine times.

Though Kreskin makes "predictions," he does not claim to have paranormal or clairvoyant powers, and does not like to be considered a "psychic". He teaches classes for law enforcement groups, which "focuses on psychological methods such as jogging lost memories through relaxation techniques or detecting lies through body language and voice inflections."

While you make valid points pointing out the illogic and/or futility of a Palin run, that in no way means she won't run. Illogic and/or futility is her stock in trade.

I think even she realizes that a badly failing run for President would hurt her brand,
. . . much more than it would help
05:26 PM on 09/26/2011
She has to wait until there is no chance of a debate and until greta and handtitty are her only interviewers. Hell, she won't even go on oh'riley's show anymore. She would be new and shiny and shoot right to the top but she would have to talk and give up a lot of cash. She must stay out of it or lose her gravy train.

Ostroy, not exactly the epitome of class (with openly hostile epithets like "tea bagger" he's not going to win any converts, let alone awards for his rants), has nevertheless hit on something here; proof positive that even wrong people can get things right once in a while if they try. Of course the spin he predictably puts on the truth is petty and malevolent. The truth is simpler. As a former competitive athlete and team captain, Governor Palin (note how I follow professional journalistic convention and first refer to my subject by her title), well knows the value of keeping a valuable starter fresh in case the rest of the squad runs into trouble during a match. Particularly if that starter isn't at 100% for some reason.

Oh btw, Ostroy. It's a little premature to say that Governor Perry has imploded. CNN's latest polls have him still comfortably in the lead.

Governor Perry definitely needs to present an articulate and clear headed persona on the national stage, and soon, because even if he hasn't imploded, he's floundered recently with very poor performances in the spotlight. I think he's in a tough hole to climb out of.

If it suited your purposes better you'd probably point out that everything that happens prior to the February primaries is more or less meaningless. Perry wouldn't be the first to win the White House in spite of some difficulty with public speaking. At least he's humble enough to just be himself, public speaking challenges and all, instead of creating a completely fake persona with the help of lawyers, groomers, handlers and teleprompters at every single public appearance.

I think she blew her chance. My prediction is that Chris Christie will enter the race as soon as Bachmann, Perry, and the rest of the also-rans self-destruct. I think Christie's taking a page out of the Jerry Brown for Governor playbook: wait until the competition spends all their campaign money then come in guns ablazing right before the key primaries.

One problem with Christie jumping into the race is that he'd squash the other candidates when he landed. He is rather large. His health concerns along with obesity will sap his energy during the one year+ stampede on the campaign trail. I'd be impressed if he were able to storm about the country nonstop as candidates must do. But I sure don't expect to be thrilled by his political views, no matter what.

IMHO

She never really had a chance to "blow"

It would have been bad if shw had gotten in earlier,
AND
WORSE FOR HER, if she attempted to get in now

Notice how all the buzz is about trying to draft a SuperHero to save the Repubs
Christy, Jeb-Bush, & etc,
NOBODY IS CALLING FOR PALIN or TRUMP to jump in
At least Trump, can honestly claim that for a while HE WAS LEADING IN THE POLLS

I think she will get in the race soon? Her biggest problem will be the fact she has already been talking and the people that would vote for her now would vote for her regardless. She wont gain many votes from Indies or thinking republicans ( I guess there are a few sane ones left) either. When the repubs stop having debates sara will step in.
04:43 PM on 09/26/2011
Sorry, but Palin won't be entering the race. Why? Because, Sarah Palin is no different than the guy who sits on his couch every Sunday watching football, blogging online about how much better he would be than any of the real pros if he decided to play... He played in high school, was told that he was good enough to go pro, but was too much of a coward to give it a shot. Now he lives in a fantasy world where he's convinced he's good enough, has people around him who tell him he's good enough, but would never actually go out and try to compete because deep down he knows he's just a wannabe and getting in the game would destroy that fantasy. Sarah is no different.

Yes she is. The guy on the couch doesn't have the news media watching her every move while showering her with constant attention. If they did, he might get off the couch and run himself. Seriously, you guys are over-analyzing this. You claim she's made a fool of herself already, but if so, has it hurt her on the national scale? Do you not think Repubs (Tea Baggers, evangelicals, hardcore right wingers) would'nt trip over themselves to support her...especially if Perry and Bachmann are done? nd do you not think, even if she loses and makes a few more gaffes, that Fox News won;t welcome her back now that she'd have a presidential run as her "credentials?" C'mon...get real. What country do you think we live in!

I live in the USA, not sure where you live, Andy. I think P would not get support longer than the support hose I wear when my arthritis starts to hurt.
She is in anything anymore for the $$$$$ and her brain just would not last
06:51 PM on 09/26/2011
I agree on a couple of your points - The Tea Party will get behind whomever is their candidate - be it Palin or Perry. She will not have to worry about spending money where she already have the support and votes - her uphill climb lies in the goal of getting Independents on her side. I doubt the Republican party will throw her under the bus if she is indeed the nominee.

Palin will not run. As chess Grandmaster Savielly Tartakower once said, "The threat is always more powerful than the execution." Palin is far more effective when she's threatening to run for president. As soon as she jumps into the race she'll have to prove herself to a larger group than just her blind, adoring fans. Unfortunately that will require more than a few cute tweets. Ain't gonna happen.

A Word To The Wise Is Sufficient
04:19 PM on 09/26/2011
Let me try to post this. Palin might throw her hat into the ring - and then SHE'LL speak, as well. Not good, if she wants to have any credibility.

What all the candidates have shown when they are asked questions is how inept at debating they are, how similar they are in their ideals and radical visions for the country, to take it backwards. They are mainly "personalities" that draw buzz and attention, but seem to falter when asked for something of substance. A lot of the positions they hold, when really examined, are not what the public was expecting, and exposes what some of their values and priorities are.
The candidates are doing so poorly in some people's views because the general public is not buying everything they're selling, and she would be no different.

She would falter badly in debates, and I don't believe she wants to lose her brand value by getting shown for how bad a candidate she would be. Most government leaders don't communicate or negotiate through social media.

@Decipherer What I would say is that I don't think she will run. I don't think she enjoys the prospect of losing, and she most probably would. Favorable ratings for her are very low, even among the GOP faithful, and would be even worse among general elections. I do believe that she will continue to float or toy with the notion that she might run, just to remain relevant and in the discussion.

She may have been quiet for awhile, but she's merely a soundbite or a headline away from being front and center on the public stage, and the media will be following her every pronouncement. For her, that's good business, but on a realistic scale, I don't think she could even win the GOP nomination. That's my thinking, flawed or not. :-) You are fanned and I'll be looking forward to your posts in the future. Peace.
