Look up in the sky. It's a bird, it's a plane, it's a frog...no, it's President UNDERDOG -

"No need to fear, President UNDERDOG is here" (Or should that be UNDERDAWG)

Still it will be hard to take him seriously until he puts on tights and a cap and demonstrates his super powers.

How much of that is of his own making?

After nearly 3 years in office, I still don't know what President Obama "Stands" for................other than maybe compromise.

Compromise may be the business of politicians, but it should have it's limits.

"All compromise is based on give and take, but there can be no give and take on fundamentals. Any compromise on mere fundamentals is a surrender. For it is all give and no take." - Mohandas Gandhi -

A bit of advice that I think President Obama should have considered before he "compromised" health care reform, to the benefit of the insurance companies, or compromised on taxes to the Republicans, because they were holding the nation "hostage".

Pay blackmailers once, is not an end, they just keep coming back for more.

I'm not a lawyer, but even I know that.

Indeed. Giving folks like those on this board and those that represent them has been pure folly. Looks like we're turning a corner on that, though. Let's see where it goes.

Dear Regressives,

In a little over one year from now, those Americans that are still allowed to vote (that is, those not deprived of that right by GOP governers) will re-elect President Obama to a second term. Over the cousre of the next year, the Dems will spend hundreds of millions of dollars detailing the accomplishments of the administration in the face of unprecedented damage caused by the prior administration and a scorched-earth obstructionist policy implemented by the GOP. Over the course of the year, the GOP hopefuls will continue to show thier ineptitude, and their continual pandering to the flock of extreme rightists whipped into a frenzy by Koch et al will turn off the independents. Romney will likely be the GOP nominee, and good luck getting him elected in many of the "purple" states.

Face it, the HCA is partially implemented; no one wants to kick kids off their parents' insurance. The SCOTUS will be hearing arguments during the heat of the general election, and the dems will capitalize on the opportunity to tell the truth about Healthcare reform.

And... Bad news for the GOP-TP: The Dems base will come back. The alternative to Obama is unthinkable, and his loss to any of the current GOP field would be disastrous for the country. We tried it your way - look where it got us.

The AURA he emits is one of gloom and doom if he does'nt get his way. That same AURA has caused business owners and CEO's to put on hold any hiring or expansion. His shallow followers being worker bees are incapable of grasping that concept, the only thing they grasp is that the boss has more money and did'nt earn it therefore it should be given to them. Companies will never hire a workforce that has been programmed to detest them.

Companies will never hire anyone until the demand for their products increases and the need more production than they already have. Companies only consider bottom line profit as their primary goal. If demand increases they will hire, just maybe not here, because of the policies you seem to espouse. Give them more tax breaks so they can keep more of their own money to build offshore and not pay taxes on that either. More free trade so that they can get their foreign produced products into the country tax free to stifle competition here and keep wages low and of course kill all regulations so the can pollute, control the workplace entirely by themselves and lastly make the working population pay for it all. Your worker bee description seem to fit the Republican voter to a tee. He votes for his own slavery, worshiping the right to acquire endless wealth off the backs of others, in the vain hope that he might be one of these titans someday. Good luck with that.

No consumer demand, no expansion. Don't believe the right wind talking points.

Financial crises recessions take a LONG time to clear (thank you regulation haters), and this recession is no different, only the worse one we've had.

Underdog, it's not my Economy, its the nasty Repubs and tea party, it's everyone and anyone but no me. Peopel bought it once, and many will buy it again, but maybe not as many this time. The Obama peole will do anything say anything to get re-elected. This is a Graduate of the Daley School of Politics, with honors, and if you don't know that school look it up in Chicago. Obama's problem is that he may have inherited Bush's mess, but when you don't correct it, in fact continue most of the policies, you own it. So it may be as Clinton said "It's the economy stupid."
10:11 AM on 10/04/2011
He needs to reprogram his shallow followers, the message he has given them is to abhor the companies and corporations that have the means to hire people. Until he reprograms them, expect nothing to change.
10:10 AM on 10/04/2011
Hopefully, he will win. Not because he's a great president, but because he's the only option to keep America alive. The republicans will make sure the middle class doesn't survive. Their stated goal is to help the rich and make the poor and middle class into worker bees. You don''t need a crystal ball to see what would happen to our once great country if it falls into the hands of the GOP.
10:13 AM on 10/04/2011
If you want to see worker bees, may I suggest you look at what his bees are doing on Wall Street. Kids that have never worked a day in their lives, never paid taxes, yet demand something for nothing. Those are the ones still supporting Obama and there is'nt enough of them to get him reelected. Independents have already bailed on him.

Sorry, Obama, but if you're the underdog it's your own fault because you are absolutely clueless. Taking a winning slogan from former President Clinton, "It's all about energy independence, stupid." You've done absolutely nothing about putting the USA on the path to energy independence and unprecedented prosperity. The only proven path is a national commitment to nuclear energy. In the short term, countless jobs would be created ranging from engineers and scientists, to construction workers, to security guards. In the long term, the USA would become an energy exporting state, transforming our debt into a surplus that would make Saudi Arabia's look like pocket change. There is enough thorium to fuel nuclear plants for the next 100,000 years, ending our energy and related economic worries for the foreseeable future. Unfortunately, many Americans are terrified of nuclear power, evidently including Obama. To put their fear in perspective, consider how it must have been when man first discovered fire. The naysayers grunted, "Stay away from fire. It will turn the planet into an uninhabitable cinder." The naysayers against nuclear power today are no different, except many of them have vested interests in oil and coal. Wake up, America! It's time to usher in a new era of abundant and reliable energy, and unprecedented prosperity. If Obama won't lead the way, then let's elect someone who will.

I cant believe some of the ignorance from some people on this thread. For those who believe that Obama or any President for that matter has the power to pass bills on his own; I suggest that you read your American History books and read upon how a bill gets passed in this country.
Obama has compromised a little too much for my taste; but I can see both sides of it. In all fairness he has tried to encourage bills geared to help the average families but has been shutdown.
He has tried to find a way to encourage job creation to no avail. Partly becausehe cant make emplyers hire people if they don't want to. He can only try to give incentives to employers to hire workers. Supply and demand creates or decreates jobs. With so many people out of work; there is very little demand. Corporations are sitting on record high profits; why aren't they hiring? The more people work; the more they spend and demand goes up.

As for entitlement programs; they would not be necessary if wages at least matched the cost of basic living. If the average person could pay rent, utilities and buy food, not to mention transportation to get back and forth to work on their low wage salary; they would not need government assisstance. Unfortunately most employers don't want to pay decent wages anymore.

The HCA came out of Congress. Obama just led. Too bad we didn't get single-payer (that would be Medicare for all).
10:17 AM on 10/04/2011
The problem with your thread is this: The democrats held the congress the last four years of Bush's administration. The Dem's held overwhelming majorities the first two years of Obama's administration. What bills did he pass during those two years that helped our economy? What bills did he pass in those two years to decrease our long-term deficit? What bills did he pass in those two years to create a pro-business environment to give the confidence and incentive for businesses to hire? What ideas does he have NOW FOR ANY OF THESE QUESTIONS? He is nothing but an over-educated community organizer! Never should have run for president! Media should have vetted him instead of "coronating" him. Voters (ALL VOTERS) should have demanded that of our press! This has been a very costly mistake in America - let's not make it again!
