Two things about the Blue Ridge Parkway:

1. You should really include Skyline Drive in Shenandoah National Park to get the whole effect. The southern end of Skyline becomes the northern end of the Blue Ridge Parkway.

2. When the Blue Ridge Parkway was built back in the Great Depression, most of the land around it was barren, logged off by the timber companies. Since then, many of the trees have grown back. Quite a few of the scenic overlooks could use some judicious pruning to restore the vistas.

These beautiful, scenic drives are testament to the good that government can do, like it or not.

If everyone drives electric cars, who will pay the gas tax for all these great roads?

U.S. 550 (Million Dollar Highway) from Durango to Ouray Colorado. Also one of the scariest.

Drives are only scenic when drives are not crowded with other drivers.

The drive from Saratoga to Laramie, WY on the Snowy Range Highway is awesome. Two other drives that are definitely worth the time, if you're ever out in Cowboy country, Ten Sleep to Buffalo and Shoshoni to Thermopolis thru the Wind River Canyon. Great on a motorcycle and probably really good in a car too.
